SK LASER is a family-owned business based in Wiesbaden, Germany, specializing in the manufacturing of customized laser systems. The company was founded in 2008 by Christoph Kollbach, and since 2022, his daughter, Dina Reit, has been part of the management team, leading the company into the future. Their laser machines are used in the manufacturing industry for surface processing, including marking and labeling on a wide range of materials, removal of paint, contaminants, and material, cutting of films, and plastic welding.
Interview with Dina Reit, CEO of SK LASER GmbH.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Dina Reit: SK LASER is a manufacturer of laser machines. We handle everything in-house, from the design and production to the delivery and service of our laser machines. In addition, we offer laser machine rentals and laser services as well.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
D.R: With our high-power lasers for material ablation, ranging from 250 to 650 watts, we can quickly and precisely remove paint to establish electrical contacts or grounding, for example. Additionally, they allow for the preparation and cleaning of surfaces for welding purposes.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
D.R: SK LASER offers Fiberlasers, CO2 Lasers, UV Lasers and Greenlight lasers. Starting from 5 W up to 650W.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
D.R: With the advent of electromobility and other product developments, lasers are increasingly being used in various manufacturing processes. The laser offers the advantage of being able to deliver highly precise energy, operates with light, thus not wearing out easily, and its beam can be deflected in any direction, allowing for the creation of new geometries with just a few clicks.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
D.R: Laser technology is increasingly being used for the clear traceability of various products in medical technology, mobility, or mechanical engineering.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
D.R: Fully automated products that rely less and less on human supervision.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
D.R: Automation will become increasingly important due to the shortage of skilled workers.
