SHINING 3D develops high-accuracy 3D scanners for a wide range of applications. Their solutions are ideal for use in high-precision metrology, digital dentistry, and more.
Interview with Kexin(Cassie) Ye, Dept. Marketing GTM Unit Leader at SHINING 3D International.
What innovative products, services, or solutions has your company launched this year—or plans to launch by early next year?
KexinYe: In 2025, SHINING 3D launched four key innovative products: FreeScan Trak Nova, FreeScan Trak ProW, OptimScan Q12, and EinScan Rigil. These products address advanced industrial metrology and professional 3D scanning needs. Alongside, we introduced SHINING 3D Metrology, a new sub-brand focused on high-end industrial measurement solutions, supporting sectors requiring certified accuracy and process integration.
In the latter half of the year, we are emphasizing fully integrated systems that combine scanning, data processing, and post-processing into seamless workflows to maximize efficiency.
What market needs or customer challenges are these innovations aiming to address?
K.Y: Our latest innovations aim to address key customer pain points such as time-consuming setup, limited scanning flexibility, and the need for high accuracy in increasingly complex environments.
FreeScan Trak Nova and FreeScan Trak ProW use wireless dynamic tracking for large-scale, marker-free scanning in complex environments, enabling fast and flexible data capture without cables or markers.
OptimScan Q12 is a fixed scanner optimized for high-resolution scanning of small to medium parts, ideal for tasks requiring accuracy and repeatability like mold inspection.
EinScan Rigil offers an all-in-one design with a built-in screen, making high-quality 3D scanning easy and affordable for a wider range of users.
These solutions streamline workflows, reduce setup time, and offer precise results across a wide range of use cases.

How have recent innovations impacted your operations, product offering, or customer experience?
K.Y: The launch of the SHINING 3D Metrology high-end sub-brand has sharpened our focus on delivering industrial-grade solutions tailored to the precise needs of demanding manufacturing environments. This clear positioning reassures clients of our deep expertise and unwavering commitment to quality.
Guided by our brand promise—Inspect on the Move—we prioritize customized solutions that address complex measurement challenges while enabling agile, real-time inspection across diverse scenarios.
Thanks to these advancements, we’ve deepened partnerships with leading manufacturers while also making cutting-edge 3D metrology more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses and emerging industries—empowering more teams to inspect with speed, precision, and confidence.

Which technologies or methods have played a key role in delivering these innovations (e.g., AI, automation, digital platforms, new materials)?
K.Y: A key technology in 2025 is the modular “2-in-1” design of the FreeScan Trak Nova, where the scanner head can function independently as the FreeScan UE Nova—offering a large field of view for fast, flexible scanning—or as part of the full tracking system for high-precision applications.
Video Photogrammetry (VPG) technology is integrated into the FreeScan Trak series, enabling dynamic, marker-free, large-scale scanning with precise and consistent results.
OptimScan Q12 supports automation when combined with robotic arms, allowing automated 3D scanning of small to medium parts, reducing manual workload and improving process consistency.
These technologies aim to deliver professional-grade scanning solutions that balance accuracy, usability, and industrial adaptability.
Have you introduced any innovation that contributes directly to sustainability, efficiency, or reduced environmental impact?
K.Y: Yes, sustainability and efficiency remain key priorities in our innovation strategy. Our 3D scanning technology replaces traditional physical prototyping and manual inspections with accurate, non-contact digital workflows. This transition effectively reduces material waste, lowers rework rates, and accelerates time-to-market, thereby significantly minimizing environmental impact.
Moving forward, we will continue to advance intelligent and green manufacturing technologies to help our customers achieve more sustainable and efficient production.
Are there specific industries, regions, or customer segments you are targeting with these innovations?
K.Y: Our innovations focus on industries where high-precision measurement and quality control are critical, including automotive parts manufacturing, civil aviation, heavy machinery, electronics, and renewable energy sectors such as wind power and oil & gas.
We target both mature and fast-growing manufacturing markets—particularly in Europe, North America, India, and Southeast Asia—where the demand for digital metrology solutions is rapidly expanding. To better support these regions, SHINING 3D has established subsidiaries in Germany, Spain, and the United States, and most recently opened a new branch in Japan in 2025.
Catering to users across all skill levels, we provide tailored solutions for small and medium-sized factories, large OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, third-party inspection agencies, and metrology service providers. Our advanced products and localized services empower customers to boost production efficiency, minimize quality risks, and accelerate their digital transformation.

What was the feedback received from clients that has influenced the development of your recent or upcoming solutions?
K.Y: Across various industrial sectors, our clients consistently express the need for greater flexibility and efficiency. In response, SHINING 3D embraces a long-term innovation strategy, investing around 20% of annual revenue into R&D to continuously advance our entire product portfolio. We understand the real-world challenges our customers face, which is why we’ve strengthened technologies like dynamic tracking and modular design to enable wireless, cable-free scanning that easily handles large and complex parts. For example, the modular “2-in-1” FreeScan Trak Nova meets the civil aviation industry’s demand for rapid external aircraft scans alongside detailed, markerless cabin interior captures—greatly improving both efficiency and accuracy.
For professional users seeking ease of use without compromising precision, we introduced a touchscreen and simplified software interface on the EinScan Rigil, making complex 3D scanning intuitive and accessible—helping clients accelerate digital workflows and boost productivity.
How do the products/solutions help improve client efficiency or productivity?
K.Y: SHINING 3D’s solutions are designed to significantly enhance client efficiency and productivity by optimizing key processes in manufacturing and quality control. Our 3D scanners enable fast, accurate, and non-contact data capture, greatly reducing the time required for inspection, reverse engineering, and design iterations. This accelerates decision-making, minimizes rework, and shortens product development cycles.
We utilize true wireless technology that requires no external power, combined with an all-in-one design featuring a built-in high-resolution screen and battery. This eliminates cable restrictions and allows users to operate flexibly across different workstations and complex environments.
What products/solutions you believe will be industry highlights in 2025?
K.Y: In 2025, industry highlights will emerge from two fronts: highly integrated, intelligent, automated metrology solutions for complex industrial needs, and more accessible, user-friendly products embedding industrial-grade technology for broader markets.
Our upcoming high-end solutions will unify scanning, data processing, and quality analysis into seamless platforms, simplifying workflows and improving inspection efficiency, enabling manufacturers requiring precision and automation to accelerate digital transformation.
Simultaneously, we aim to democratize 3D scanning by extending industrial DNA into popular products, allowing small businesses, education, and creative sectors to access reliable, affordable, and easy-to-use scanning tools, expanding adoption and impact.
Balancing advanced industrial capabilities with accessibility, SHINING 3D will lead metrology innovation to meet diverse customer needs and drive progress throughout 2025 and beyond.
