Since 1999, the competence team for partnership cooperation – consisting of Schreiber Meßtechnik GmbH and a.b.jödden gmbh – has been fully committed to supplying its customers with sensors for measuring displacement, angle, inclination, pressure, temperature, acceleration, vibration, flow and level.
A wide variety of measurement transducers, programmable displays, PC measuring technology and customised devices and assemblies in the measuring and control technology area is available for processing and evaluating the sensor signals. As well as the wide range of standard products, the company will also develop your individual customised solution by request. Their many years of experience and quick adaptation capability make a contribution to finding a solution, even to technologically demanding tasks, however difficult they may be.
Interview with Ing. Michael Heßhaus, Sales and Marketing at a.b.jödden GmbH.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Michael Heßhaus: Mining, shipbuilding, existing buildings, agriculture, power plant technology, plant engineering, robotics, vehicle technology, rail transport, testing technology.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
M.H: New, miniature inductive displacement transducer with integrated electronics
This new, optimised and at the same time environmentally friendly product evaluates the inductance change caused by axial displacement of a Mu metal core. The power supply and evaluation electronics are integrated in the only 10 mm thick inductive displacement transducer from Schreiber Messtechnik.
With an operating voltage of 24 VDC, the new displacement transducers require a very low operating current of just current of just 10 mA and provide a standardised output signal of 0 – 10 VDC.
These parameters also allow the use in mobile systems.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
M.H: In addition to the wide range of high-quality standard products, a.b.jödden gmbh also develops individual customised products on request. Many years of experience and quick adaptability contribute to the solution – even of technologically demanding tasks – even when the challenge is great.
For processing and evaluating the sensor signals, a wide range of
- electronic modules,
- programmable displays,
- data loggers,
- customer-specific devices and assemblies
in the field of measurement and control technology are available.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
M.H: Somewhere between mark-up and distribution phase.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
M.H: The users of sensors are divided into two camps. One part needs digital sensors that are read out via special interfaces such as CANBUS.
The other part also uses analogue sensors, which have their own advantages. They have long-term stability, are often cheaper and can be used in older and newer applications. The demand for both types is unbroken.
Ing. Michael Heßhaus, Sales and Marketing at a.b.jödden GmbH.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
M.H: We now offer sensors with external threads that are easier to mount.
The inductive displacement transducers are built into a housing with M30 x 1.5 mm external thread. Measuring travels up to 15 mm are converted into standardised output signals 0 (4) – 20 mA, 0 – 10 VDC or ±10 VDC in the integrated electronics with an accuracy of 0.25 %. The electrical connection is made via plugs.
The continuous external thread M30 x 1.5 mm enables very simple mounting of the displacement transducers. Due to the encapsulated design, protection class IP68 is achieved.
Further versions are available with or without bellows, cable outlet via PG gland and a pressure-resistant version.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
M.H: I think the raw material situation will ease because many suppliers and manufacturers have started to substitute. Prices will continue to be at an elevated level. Personal advice will become more of a focus again, as end customers will no longer be able to fall back on their usual goods.
