They believe it’s their responsibility to be a partner that brings value to customers, providing them with tools and services that make them less pollutant and more profitable through the efficient use of resources.
The company provides customers with a wide range of technologies for the treatment of emissions and hazardous waste tailored to your industrial processes, offering customised and tailor-made solutions, adapted to client’s problems and technical and logistical requirements.
Interview with José Miguel González, Business Development & Consultancy Director at Tecam.
How do your products or solutions help clients lower their overall operating costs?
José Miguel González: Tecam solutions are designed to maximize efficiency in emissions treatment and waste valorization processes. By optimizing energy recovery and reducing waste volumes, our technologies help clients minimize disposal and utility costs, which directly lowers their overall operating expenses. Moreover, in the case of bulk liquid hydrocarbon tank terminals, tank operators can also recover hydrocarbons via vapour recovery units (VRU), which means less product loss and therefore an economic advantage.
In what ways do you contribute to improving efficiency or productivity for your clients?
J.M.G: We deliver turnkey engineering projects that integrate seamless into our customers’ operations. Our systems are custom-designed for each facility, adapting to each case and sector, reducing inefficiencies and ensuring smooth production. This translates into higher productivity and optimized plant performance for our customers in all sectors.

How do you help clients reduce energy, material, or resource consumption?
J.M.G: Our technologies often recover and reuse energy generated during the abatement process. For instance, in Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs), excess heat can be used into the production cycle, lowering energy demand and resource consumption, for a much more efficient process. That provides energy consumption reduction, which aligns with environmental and sustainability goals.
Moreover, in the case of electrically-heated RTO systems, production plants may use renewable energy to feed the system electrically, not using gas nor any other fuel for its functioning, thus making it even more environmentally-friendly. Electrical RTO technology is a suitable technical solution for all kinds of polluting gas exhaust airflows, with different solvent concentrations, from low to medium and high, as well as indicated for installation in sectors and applications such as chemical, coating, flexoprinting, odour control, etc.
What technical characteristics in your solutions reduce maintenance or lifecycle costs?
J.M.G: Tecam designs solutions with robust components, bespoke designs and easy-access systems that require minimal maintenance. Long-lasting materials and efficient engineering reduce deterioration, extending equipment lifespan and lowering lifecycle costs.
How do you support clients in minimizing downtime or production interruptions?
J.M.G: Reliability is a core design principle in all Tecam environmental solutions. We integrate preventive monitoring and plan maintenance programmes to reduce unplanned downtime. Our local and remote support ensures that any issue is addressed quickly, minimizing production interruptions for a more efficient production plant functioning.

In what ways do your solutions simplify processes and reduce further costs?
J.M.G: Our environmental technology for emissions abatement is installed at the end of the production process to absorb and eliminate polluting flue gases. Our technology is tailor-made to adapt to the customer’s production processes, lowering operating complexity, and cutting administrative and compliance costs.
How do your technologies enable clients to scale operations in a cost-effective way?
J.M.G: All Tecam environmental technology equipment are designed taking into account future possible production scenarios, specifically designed for each customer. Our engineers design the equipment for the most frequent scenario, but also taking into account the least favourable one – it gives the customer tranquillity about their future production scenarios, providing flexibility.
How do you help clients meet regulatory or sustainability requirements without excessive costs?
J.M.G: Tecam solutions are fully compliant with the most stringent international environmental standards. By integrating compliance into the design, we help customers avoid penalties and achieve sustainability targets efficiently, without unnecessary financial burdens.
What role does automation or digitalization play in cost savings for your clients?
J.M.G: Automation and digital control systems enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and optimized process performance. This reduces human error, lowers operational costs, and ensures consistent compliance with minimal manual intervention.

Can you share a concrete example where your solutions generated measurable budget savings?
J.M.G: One of our customers, a hydrocarbon tank storage terminal in The Netherlands, needed to eliminate the vapours and odour generated while barge and ship offloading for tank terminal filling purposes. These vapours contained highly polluting particles, mainly: VOCs, CO, SOx, NOx, MVP2 and PM10.
Tecam installed an RTO system plus a Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU) that was able to not only eliminate VOC emissions and the other pollutants, but also recover part of the hydrocarbon evaporated, which implies an economic advantage by recovering some of the product that would otherwise get lost.
Tecam environmental technology achieved a reduction of 99.9% of the pollutants at this customer’s terminal in the port of Rotterdam. The analysis and design work of Tecam engineers allowed the customer to count on an efficient installation, perfectly adapted to their needs, and fully compliant with the most stringent environmental legislation.
