Initially started in 1992, Crown Norge has become a major global supplier of CNC routing and engraving tooling, for all types of CNC machines. These high-quality tools are used in many different industries including sign & display, plastic fabricators and architectural cladding & rain-screen manufacturing. Crown Norge is Norwegian company; however, the tools are manufactured in Switzerland from the highest-grade European carbide, exclusively for Crown Norge and sold through Crown Norge’s network of distributors, with 96% of its sales exported globally. Crown Norge is also a member of the engravers association in Switzerland and Norway for over 20 years.
These tools are produced under strict and stringent quality control processes, using the latest and best maintained machines by vastly experienced machine operators. The tools are stocked in Norway following the manufacturing process and are supplied around the world to many of the major machine manufacturers as well as authorized distributors and resellers. The cutting tool is the most important part of the cutting or routing process and the tools from Crown Norge are of the highest quality and designed to match the most common thicknesses of materials on the market, which ensures perfect results every time.
The best machine on the market will produce bad results with a low-quality tool. Low quality tools will produce a poor cut finish and can lead to expensive spindle repairs over time, if they are not balanced correctly. These low-quality tools are generally mass produced and have a number of important manufacturing processes removed to meet a production price point. They are often manufactured from low grade carbide on poorly maintained machines, as fast as possible.
In contrast, Crown Norge uses the highest-grade European carbide on the latest well-maintained machinery. The grinding wheel is regularly dressed and inspected. The manufacturing process includes many stages, of which, a final polishing pass. This increases the overall production time but is implemented to achieve the best possible surface finish on the tool itself, along with the sharpest cutting edge.

Crown Norge implements strict quality control measures during the manufacturing process of the tools to ensure that each cutting tool is the same as the last one used. This gives the operator peace of mind, knowing that nothing needs to be adjusted when changing over a worn tool. The sound of the tool while cutting is generally a good indication of how well the tool is performing. Crown Norge started balancing engraving tools in 1996 and then was the first to introduce a balanced range of single fluted spiral tools in 2003, allowing for spindle speeds of up to 60,000 RPM. These tools are incredibly quiet while cutting materials and produce an exceptional cut finish. Specific tools from Crown Norge are available for specific materials which are designed to increase the number of meters cut and give the best finish possible. For materials such as aluminium, the SUPERIOR and DLC coatings extend the tool life and allow for faster feed rates while cutting the aluminium dry.
MONTECH’S NEW ROLLER CONVEYOR SYSTEMS – MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY FOR MODERN CONVEYING PROCESSES
Crown Norge has the moto “Innovative cutting tools” which it lives up to on a regular basis. The SUPERIOR coating from Crown Norge was first introduced in 2018 to great success. This improved even further the processing capabilities of routing solid aluminium, without the need for coolant. This coating significantly increased tool life, cutting speed and cut finish. Over 7 years on and this tool still sets the benchmark for performance, tool life and cut quality in cutting aluminium dry, HPL, brass and ACM.
The coating is unique to Crown Norge and although many competitors now have similar looking coatings, when comparisons are made over cut meterage, they generally have a much shorter tool life. The MP SUPERIOR coated tools are still our most popular coated tools with customers in a variety of industries. The SUPERIOR coating followed the DLC coating, which was first introduced by Crown Norge 13 years ago and revolutionized the aluminium cutting process for many customers. This was the first dry cut tool for aluminium and allowed CNC machines without a coolant system, to successfully dry cut aluminium for the first time. The DLC coating was also applied to another industry first, the balanced ACM tools, by Crown Norge. These balanced ACM tools allowed for cutting speeds of up to 30 meters per minute in ACM (aluminium composite material), setting a new standard in performance and cut quality. These tools and coatings are part of continuous development program by Crown Norge to improve tool design, coatings and innovations.

Crown Norge is also a class leader in the supply of diamond polishing tools for clear acrylic. The range includes PCD (Polycrystalline), MCD (Mon Crystalline) or MCVD (Mono Chemical Vapor Deposition) diamonds tools with varying diameters and lengths to match the most common material thickness, up to 30mm thick.
These finishing tools remove a small amount of material as a secondary operation on the CNC machine to polish the cut edge, so that it is clear and see through. Rigid, well-maintained machines give the best results and it should be matched with the correct Crown Norge acrylic tool for the initial cut. This polishing process is often preferred to flame polishing or laser cutting as it produces no tension in the acrylic. This can easily be cleaned or glued for assembly, without the fear of cracks appearing on the polished edge, which can happen if heat is used to polish the material edge.
