DICAR POWER is a Spanish manufacturer specialised in professional jump starters and advanced starter batteries for demanding automotive and industrial applications. For more than 18 years the company has designed and built heavy-duty equipment that performs reliably in real-world workshop, roadside assistance and fleet environments, first with high-performance AGM technology and now with a new generation of sodium-ion solutions.
In 2025 they introduced a true world first: the first professional sodium-ion jump starters in the world, available in 12 V and 12/24 V versions, opening a completely new category in the market. DICAR’s mission is to give professionals “energy that never fails” through robust, repairable products and close technical support.
Interview with Carlos Lamarque Krieg, Founder & Managing Director, DICAR POWER, S.L.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Carlos Lamarque Krieg: Our core activity is the design and manufacturing of professional jump starters for 12 V and 12/24 V systems, engineered for intensive use in workshops, roadside assistance fleets, truck and bus depots, construction, agriculture, marine and motorsport.
In parallel, we develop sodium-ion SLI batteries as drop-in replacements for lead-acid starter batteries used in existing boosters and starting equipment, replacing over 90% of current lead starter batteries while remaining compatible with most installed chargers. We complement our hardware with technical consultancy, after-sales service and spare parts, helping distributors and professional users optimise performance and total cost of ownership.
What’s the news about new products/services?
C.L.K: The major news from DICAR POWER is our sodium platform for professional starting, which we presented at international trade fairs such as EQUIP AUTO Paris and Genera Madrid 2025. This platform includes the first professional sodium-ion jump starters worldwide in 12 V and 12/24 V, as well as sodium-ion SLI batteries for retrofit applications.
The sodium jump-starter range includes compact 12 V units like DP850 and DP1600, and powerful 12/24 V models DP1224-1700 and DP1224-3200, all featuring integrated polarity alarm, energy cut-off switch, surge suppression and clear charge indicators. On the battery side, models such as DC18 and DC32 provide high CCA with much lower weight than AGM, excellent cold-temperature behaviour and simple plug-and-play replacement.
Together, these products allow workshops and fleets to move away from lead and lithium towards a safer, more powerful and lighter solution tailored to professional use.

What are the ranges of products/services?
C.L.K: DICAR POWER currently offers four main product families:
- Professional sodium-ion jump starters 12 V
- DP850 and DP1600 for light commercial vehicles, passenger cars and motorsport support.
- Professional sodium-ion jump starters 12/24 V
- DP1224-1700 and DP1224-3200 for trucks, buses, construction machinery and mixed fleets requiring both voltages from a single portable unit.
- Sodium-ion SLI batteries (DC series)
- DC18, DC32 and related models designed as plug-and-play replacements for lead AGM starter batteries, fitting typical 12 V and 12/24 V booster formats while being more powerful, lighter, safer and more ecological.
- AGM professional jump starters and AGM batteries
Our established AGM range remains available for customers who want proven lead technology, benefitting from our long experience with premium Enersys Genesis and Odyssey batteries.
What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
C.L.K: The professional jump-starter market is mature and highly competitive, dominated for years by lead-acid AGM equipment and, more recently, by lithium-based boosters. However, many professional users are increasingly concerned about safety (thermal runaway risk), cold-temperature performance, weight and sustainability of existing technologies.
At the same time, the number of vehicles in operation – from delivery vans to heavy trucks and off-road machinery – continues to grow worldwide, and downtime costs are higher than ever. This creates strong demand for reliable, high-power starting solutions that can cope with modern engines, electronics and extreme operating conditions. DICAR POWER is addressing this gap by offering a new sodium category that currently has no direct competition in professional jump starters, giving distributors a clear differentiation opportunity.

What can you tell us about market trends?
C.L.K: We see several clear trends shaping our market:
- Safety first: Regulations and internal policies in workshops, depots and airports increasingly restrict how lithium batteries are stored, charged and transported. Sodium-ion, with no thermal runaway and a much lower fire or explosion risk, directly answers these concerns.
- Decarbonisation and sustainability: Customers are looking for solutions with lower environmental impact and reduced dependence on critical raw materials. Sodium-ion uses abundant sodium and avoids lithium and cobalt, making it one of the most sustainable chemistries for starter applications.
- Cold-climate reliability: Fleets operating in winter conditions demand stable performance below 0 °C, an area where sodium-ion clearly outperforms lithium while matching or exceeding high-end AGM.
- Total cost of ownership: As energy prices and labour costs rise, buyers focus on lifetime cost rather than only purchase price. Sodium-ion’s combination of long cycle life, low maintenance and increasingly competitive €/kWh positions it very well against both AGM and lithium.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
C.L.K: Our most innovative products are undoubtedly the DICAR POWER sodium-ion professional jump starters and SLI batteries. They represent a world-first in bringing sodium-ion technology into fully engineered, field-ready equipment for 12 V and 12/24 V professional starting.
Key advantages of sodium-ion in this context include:
- Significantly higher safety than lithium, with no thermal runaway and minimal fire or explosion risk, even under abuse conditions.
- Excellent cold-temperature behaviour, maintaining strong charge and discharge capability below 0 °C.
- More power with less weight compared to lead AGM, resulting in easier handling and better ergonomics for technicians.
- Drop-in compatibility with existing lead booster formats and chargers (with basic precautions), simplifying transition for workshops and fleets.
- Improved environmental profile, thanks to the use of abundant sodium instead of lithium or critical metals.
With this platform we are not only launching a new product line, but opening an entirely new category in professional jump-starting.

What estimations do you have for the end of 2025?
C.L.K: By the end of 2025, DICAR POWER expects sodium-ion solutions to represent a significant share of our professional range, alongside our established AGM products. Our priority is to build a strong network of distributors across Europe and start expanding into Latin America and North America, in line with our vision of becoming an international reference in safe, high-performance and sustainable starting solutions.
We anticipate:
- A rapid increase in demand for sodium-based 12 V and 12/24 V jump starters as early adopters in workshops, roadside assistance and fleets validate the technology in daily operations.
- Growing interest from OEMs and specialised equipment manufacturers looking to integrate sodium-ion SLI batteries into their own booster platforms.
- Continued investment in R&D and product testing (including extreme safety tests such as cell drilling and abuse scenarios) to keep DICAR POWER clearly ahead in this new sodium category.
