Interview with Kateryna Babii, Senior Software Engineer at ELEKS.

A brief description of the company and its activities.

Kateryna Babii: At ELEKS, we aim to create a work environment where people feel supported — both personally and professionally. Over the years, we’ve launched a range of initiatives to meet the needs of our diverse team: from flexible work and wellbeing practices to learning opportunities and community-driven events. While each office has its own context, we keep evolving our internal culture to be more inclusive, responsive, and human-centered.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

K.B: ELEKS provides a broad spectrum of technology services. Its core offerings include custom software and product engineering, data science and AI solutions, cloud/DevOps and enterprise platforms, and digital transformation consulting. For example, ELEKS’ Data & AI practice delivers business intelligence, machine learning, intelligent automation, MLOps, and generative AI services. The company also offers quality assurance, cybersecurity, UX design, and legacy modernization as part of its full-life-cycle development model.

ELEKS serves clients across a wide range of industries. Its industry verticals include finance/insurance, healthcare, energy and utilities, government, logistics, retail, automotive, agriculture, media & entertainment, hospitality, and more. This broad coverage reflects ELEKS’ track record of delivering specialized applications – from hospital management systems and oil/gas monitoring to insurance underwriting platforms and agro-industrial IoT solutions.

What’s the news about new products/services?

K.B: In the past two years, ELEKS has expanded its offerings into cutting-edge domains, especially around AI and sustainability. In 2024, ELEKS launched COVERE², funded by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT Food), a tool for managing greenhouse gas emissions in agri-food production. In June 2025, ELEKS also joined the 4InnoPipe2 project under the EU’s EIT Higher Education Initiative, partnering with European universities to drive innovation, green transition, and digital transformation in industry and education.

ELEKS’ eCAP platform has been enhanced to meet the complex governance, risk, and compliance needs of highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, and automotive. Key features include security-related evidence collection for audits, information security oversight, and automated internal audits. The platform is supported by real-time engineering metrics and dashboards, improving transparency and delivery accountability.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

K.B: ELEKS operates in a dynamic and competitive global software engineering market. The company’s core regions are: North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, which are experiencing growth across enterprise IT investments, with acceleration in artificial intelligence, sustainability technologies, and cloud modernization initiatives.

Currently, the North American market remains the largest globally, with over 30% of worldwide IT. EU and UK market enterprises are affected by a significant wave of digital transformation, caused by AI governance and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Markets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are also focused on AI for smart cities, energy grid innovation, and healthcare IT.

What can you tell us about market trends?

K.B: The global digital services market, where ELEKS is a dynamic player, is experiencing increased change. Several dominant trends characterize enterprise tech strategy, procurement, and investment in innovation in 2025.

Generative AI has hit production. Organizations are investing in:

  • LLM-based solutions (chatbots, assistants, summarization)
  • AI copilots for developers, analysts, and operators
  • Responsible AI frameworks to facilitate transparency and compliance

According to industry estimates, over 60% of global companies will deploy some form of generative AI by the end of 2025.

  • With increasing regulations from the EU’s CSRD, SEC climate disclosures, and investors, companies are already adopting:
  • Digital ESG platforms to track GHG emissions, map risks, and report
  • Sustainability analytics from real-time IoT and cloud data
  • Lifecycle modeling software to measure emissions and operational footprint

With growing exposure to cyber attacks and more stringent regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001, etc.), organizations are looking for:

  • Secure software development lifecycles (SSDLC)
  • Automated monitoring of compliance
  • End-to-end visibility of project delivery and risk

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

K.B: ELEKS has brought several standout products and services to market that reflect its commitment to AI-first, sustainability-driven, and platform-centric solutions for enterprise clients.

COVERE²: A comprehensive tool for collecting, verifying, reporting and reducing of GHG emissions. Developed in collaboration with EU partners, COVERE² is a next-generation platform for collecting, verifying, and reporting GHG emissions data. What estimations do you have for the second half of 2025?

K.B: H2 2025 is anticipated to be a period of robust growth and significant opportunities within the global IT and software development markets. The worldwide software market is expected to reach $743 billion in revenue this year, with enterprise software spending alone projected to hit $317 billion by 2025.

For the second half of 2025, several key development areas are anticipated across service and product areas:

  • AI/ML: ELEKS will intensify its focus on transitioning more AI pilots to scalable, production-ready solutions, emphasizing quantifiable ROI and fostering human-AI collaboration to address market scepticism.  Further development of Agentic AI and Small Language Models (SLMs) could lead to more sophisticated automation in areas such as supply chains and equipment maintenance.
  • Cloud: Continue the adoption of hybrid cloud strategies, with ELEKS providing advanced expertise in FinOps to ensure cost-efficiency and proactive value optimization for clients.
  • Cybersecurity: There will be increased demand for advanced security solutions, including the integration of AI/ML for enhanced threat detection, and heightened scrutiny of technology vendor partners’ security postures. ELEKS’ eCAP and Security Operations Centre services will be critical in this evolving landscape.
  • Sustainability: Driven by growing regulatory compliance (e.g., Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and corporate responsibility, there will be a demand for solutions like COVERE² for precise GHG reporting and for green transformation scenarios.
