Interview with Francesco Pais, Head of Business Development at ESAIN.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Francesco Pais: The company focuses on the commercialization and technical support of its proprietary software solution, ESAPRO. ESAIN supports customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their activities, from training and technical assistance to tailored services such as tutoring during the execution of the first pilot project, ensuring a smooth and effective adoption of the software.

What’s the news about new products/services?
F.P: ESAIN is a continuously evolving company with a strong focus on innovation. In addition to developing new versions of its products with enhanced functionalities, ESAIN is actively integrating advanced technologies into its ecosystem. These include artificial intelligence and modern self-training systems through a dedicated e-learning platform, designed to support continuous professional development for customers.
What are the ranges of products/services?
F.P: Although ESAIN was originally founded as a software house, its goal is to provide a complete 360-degree solution. Through integrated software modules and a wide range of value-added services, ESAIN positions itself as an ideal partner to support customers and help them face future technological and market challenges.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
F.P: The industrial plant design software market is highly specialized and strongly competitive. In Italy, ESAIN currently holds approximately 50% market share, while around 20% of its revenue already comes from international customers. The company’s strategic objective is to further expand in foreign markets, replicating the successful business model developed in Italy.
What can you tell us about market trends?
F.P: In recent years, the industrial plant design market has significantly expanded. Alongside traditional heavy-industry sectors such as petrochemical plants and power generation, strong demand has emerged in “green” sectors, including biogas, biomethane, water treatment, and waste management. Combined with established industries such as paper, food, and pharmaceuticals, these sectors are driving demand for agile, fast, and cost-effective solutions like those offered by ESAIN. As a result, a positive growth trend is expected in the coming years.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
F.P: One of the key business drivers for the coming years is the adoption of BIM technologies within industrial plant design. ESAIN is actively developing new solutions to further improve interoperability, as well as exploring collaborative cloud-based design environments. Another important focus is simplifying and strengthening the interaction between mechanical engineering and plant design workflows.

What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2026?
F.P: The year 2026 has started with encouraging results, supporting expectations of continued double-digit growth, consistent with recent years. ESAIN’s growth has always been steady and structural, even during challenging periods such as the COVID pandemic, reinforcing confidence in a positive outlook for the near future.
