FLEXIBILITY AS A COMPETITIVE EDGE: RAJANT CORPORATION RESPONDS TO CLIENT CHALLENGES TO DRIVE SUCCESS

Rajant Corporation is the broadband communications technology company that invented Kinetic Mesh® networking, BreadCrumb® wireless nodes, and InstaMesh® networking software. With Rajant, customers can rapidly deploy a highly adaptable and scalable network that leverages the power of real-time data to deliver on-demand, mission-critical business intelligence.

Interview with Andy Kowalik, Vice President, Strategy & Marketing at Rajant Corporation.

How do you define flexibility, and how is it reflected in the way you serve your clients?

Andy Kowalik: At Rajant, flexibility means the ability to meet our clients exactly where they are, whether that’s in a remote mine with limited infrastructure, a defense operation with high-security needs, or a warehouse deploying autonomous systems. Flexibility requires designing solutions that adapt to unique challenges rather than forcing clients into rigid frameworks. Our technology, including Kinetic Mesh® networking, InstaMesh Software, BreadCrumb® wireless nodes, and Cowbell® distributed computing AI hub, is inherently modular and mobile. Our unique mobile distributed computing capabilities ensure that applications, analytics, and AI solutions can run at the edge, exactly where they’re needed. This allows us to serve customers with vastly different environments while enabling fast, disruption-free deployment. Flexibility is reflected not just in our products, but in how we collaborate from initial consultation through post-deployment support.

Can you share an example of adapting to a client’s specific or complex need?

A.K: One example is our deployment with a Brazilian iron ore mine that needed remote operation of heavy machinery in high-risk dam areas. The terrain was extreme, and traditional infrastructure was not feasible. Rajant deployed a hybrid solution using our Kinetic Mesh, enabling 17 machines—including dozers and trucks—to be remotely operated over 20 kilometers away with zero downtime. This demanded a seamless, rugged system that could handle video, command, and telemetry data in real-time with complete reliability. Our flexible architecture made that possible.

What capabilities enable your team to respond quickly to client-specific challenges?

A.K: Our edge-based, decentralized architecture allows for quick configuration and deployment. Through our unique mobile distributed computing and OS platform, we combine hardware, software, operating system, and networking infrastructure into one seamlessly integrated solution, which enables rapid delivery of applications, AI solutions, and data processing directly at the edge without reliance on central controllers. We can scale, modify, or redeploy the system as the client’s needs evolve. Internally, we have a tightly integrated team that ensures real-time feedback from deployments can influence updates or adaptations. This direct line is key to how we move quickly and responsively.

How do you balance flexibility with efficiency and cost control while still delivering value?

A.K: Rajant’s technology delivers value by reducing long-term operational costs, especially in environments where traditional networks would require significant investment in fixed infrastructure. Because our systems are portable, scalable, and backward-compatible, they reduce the need for expensive upgrades or overhauls. By focusing on integration rather than replacement, we help clients maximize their existing assets while future-proofing for evolving needs. That balance of agility and operational efficiency is a core part of our value proposition.

How adaptable are your solutions to different client needs or industries?

A.K: Our solutions are designed to be highly customizable in practice. We serve a wide range of sectors from mining and ports to defense, warehousing, and public safety, each with unique connectivity, security, and operational needs. What ties it all together is our intelligent edge platform, which supports autonomous mobility, IoT, video, and edge computing without requiring industry-specific hardware. This adaptability has allowed us to seamlessly support applications like drone-based warehouse scanning and smart picking platforms, as well as battlefield communications and disaster response networks.

How do you collaborate with clients to understand their challenges and deliver results that drive their success?

A.K: We take a consultative approach from the beginning. That starts with understanding the specific pain points, environment, and desired outcomes. We often run on-site assessments or pilot deployments to fine-tune the system before scaling. Beyond initial deployment, we maintain close partnerships with clients through regular check-ins, performance analytics, and co-development opportunities when specialized needs arise. Many of our most innovative deployments were co-designed with the client’s operational goals in mind.

What technologies or tools help your company stay flexible and client-focused?

A.K: The foundation is our Kinetic Mesh architecture, which includes Rajant’s BreadCrumb wireless nodes and InstaMesh software. These create a self-healing, peer-to-peer network that adapts in real time. Our tools provide additional flexibility to meet specific use cases from safety and compliance tracking to AI-based automation. To transform edge computing, Cowbell, our unique mobile distributed computing hub and OS platform, enables the rapid delivery and management of applications and AI solutions right at the edge. Internally, we use customer support tools that ensure responsiveness and iteration are built into every project.

How do you maintain high quality and compliance when offering tailored solutions?

A.K: Our systems are built to meet strict compliance requirements across verticals, whether that’s defense-grade encryption or industrial safety standards. Even with customization, we ensure that each solution adheres to rigorous protocols and integrates seamlessly with the client’s security posture. We have tight control over how changes are made and validated. Quality and compliance are engineered into the flexibility.

Have you seen a growing demand for flexible, customized solutions to help clients stay competitive?

A.K: Absolutely. The pace of change in industries like mining, logistics, and defense means that static infrastructure just doesn’t cut it anymore. Clients are demanding solutions that not only perform but evolve—especially as AI, robotics, and edge computing reshape their operations. From our unique mobile distributed computing to our unmatched service orchestration, we deliver flexible architectures that integrate seamlessly with third-party platforms, scale into new sites quickly, and support hybrid topologies blending LTE, mesh, Wi-Fi, and satellite. Flexibility is now a core requirement for competitiveness.

Looking ahead, how will adaptability and client-focused flexibility shape your strategy for driving success?

A.K: Adaptability will continue to define our innovation roadmap. As edge computing, AI integration, and hybrid networks become the norm, we’re building toward an even more interoperable platform that supports real-time automation and predictive analytics. Our focus is on making Rajant the integration layer that ties together diverse technologies into a unified, intelligent edge. This approach ensures that we’re not just providing communications but delivering a foundation that helps our clients automate, scale, and stay ahead.
