HELIUP – LIGHTWEIGHT PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS FOR LARGE ROOFS

HELIUP is a greentech manufacturer of lightweight photovoltaic solutions engineered for large commercial, industrial, logistics and public rooftops with tight load constraints. Born from advanced R&D with leading French labs (incl. CEA and the French National Institute for Solar Energy – INES), their modules deliver high performance and durability standards at a drastically lower weight (~5 kg/m²).

Interview with Veschetti Yannick, CEO & Co-Founder & Joanny Maryline, CCO of HELIUP.

A brief description of the company and its activities.

Veschetti Yannick & Joanny Maryline: We industrialize in France and work hand-in-hand with roofers, EPCs and insurers to solarise artificial surfaces with an effective response to regulatory changes (European Solar Rooftop Initiatives) in order to improve the energy performance and decarbonisation of buildings, thus offering a reliable and insurable solution enabling owners to add value to their buildings.

HELIUP has been already recognized with awards in France (French retail sector PERIFEM & BePOSITIVE Innovation award with our partner Soprasolar) and within Europe, wining in 2025 the Gold European Solar Startup Award (Solar Power Europe) and the EUPD Research Award (Module category).

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

V.Y & J.M: R&D and industrialization of ultra-light PV modules for low-load roofs.

What’s the news about new products/services?

V.Y & J.M: Series production ramp-up of our lightweight PV module STYKON® for flat rooftops

Field deployment in France since 2023 on the first C&I buildings, with excellent feedback both on ease of installation and on-roof energy yield

Commercial acceleration in France in 2025, plus first export orders and projects launched in Europe

What are the ranges of products/services?

V.Y & J.M: The Stykon® range is dedicated to flat roofs (C&I/logistics/public), with an innovative, simple and quick installation system based on gluing the panel directly onto the roof’s waterproofing membrane. The solar panel is 60% lighter than conventional panels, while maintaining the same level of performance and durability. The technology incorporates the latest generation of high conversion efficiency silicon cells.

To summarize, STYKON® combines lightness, performance, high durability, easy installation and long-terms warranties.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

V.Y & J.M: The European C&I segment remains structurally strong: businesses are prioritizing self-consumption, cost control and resilience, while regulatory drivers in France (e.g., tertiary decarbonisation & energy performance of the buildings) create a robust demand base. A large share of existing roofs still sits unused due to load limitations—precisely the gap that STYKON® lightweight solar now unlocks.

What can you tell us about market trends?

V.Y & J.M: “Lightweight solar” unlock the solar potential of buildings that were previously left out of the energy transition — especially large rooftops with limited structural load capacity. Our advanced lightweight PV solutions make it possible to install solar where traditional panels simply can’t go.

Procurement shifting beyond pure price toward resilience, sustainability, and EU-made supply. At HELIUP, we share this conviction — that Europe must not only deploy solar, but also produce it locally, with innovation, resilience, and sustainability at the core.

Heightened focus on durability (hail/wind), traceability, and insurability—favouring qualified, building-grade solutions.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

V.Y & J.M: Our STYKON® range: ultra-light (~5 kg/m²) crystalline-silicon modules using thin-glass design for a unique weight/performance ratio on constrained roofs. The design is engineered for building-grade robustness and bankability, backed by 12-/25-year warranties and a full technical/insurer documentation suite—manufactured in France.

What estimations do you have for the second half of 2025?

V.Y & J.M: We expect continued sales acceleration in France, supported by the industrial ramp-up from our facility. We are preparing for volume deployments across logistics, commercial and industrial sites in France and then neighboring countries. These outlooks build on the commissioning of our factory and the recognition we’ve earned at the European level; industrial throughput and partner networks will expand in step with project volume.
