ARMATEC is a well-established supplier of agitators, pumps, and additional tank accessories for the biogas, wastewater, and industrial sector. Founded in 1965, Armatec started out inventing pumps and agitators. Nowadays, the company also supplies other products like cutters and separators. The advantage for potential customers is that they have only one contact person for all these different kinds of machinery. With around 30 diligent employees, Armatec is equipped to meet individual customer requirements around the world.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
ARMATEC: Armatec is mainly active in the biogas sector. In addition, there is now an increasing number of industrial applications – for example, in the food industry, chemicals, fish farming, shipbuilding, sewage treatment plants, waste processing plants, agriculture, and many more.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
ARMATEC: With all the different types of tanks, substrates and agitators on the market, it can be difficult to find the right solution with a high agitating performance while ensuring energy efficiency. To meet all the important requirements, Armatec invented a new agitator which combines all advantages of a long shaft agitator as well as the advantages of a submersible mixer. One of the engineers at Armatec simply described it as “the long shaft submersible mixer”. The height can be adjusted through hydraulic or electric regulation. With the electric drive version, the agitator can be aligned to all different filling levels automatically via the control system, preventing floating layers. Additionally, sedimentation at the wall or the agitator itself is prevented, thanks to the aerodynamical mounting position and the generous distance to the tank wall. There is no interference of the flow circulation due to ropes, masts or cables which lead to an even lower energy consumption and better performance overall. The lack of the cable and rope also reduces wear and tear. All electrical connections are protected in the support tube. Though the durability is commendable, if servicing is required, the process is easy because the agitator can be dismounted and mounted laterally without having to open the membrane cover, also helping to ensure reduced gas loss.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
ARMATEC: Supplier of agitators, pumps, and additional tank accessories. The range of pumps includes feeding pumps, progressive cavity pumps, bellows pumps, centrifugal pumps, and submersible pumps. In the case of progressive cavity pumps, it depends on whether the pump is intended for the biogas and industrial sectors or for agriculture. Different designs are offered there.
Among the agitators, one finds long-shaft agitators, submersible motors and paddle agitators. The latest innovation is a mixture of long-shaft agitator and submersible motor.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
ARMATEC: In my understanding, the German biogas sector is actually in the maturing phase and can soon meet the stagnation phase if there will be enough research and development in the future. We will do our best depending research and development to meet all future expectations and to adapt to the market as good as possible.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
ARMATEC: Actually, with our HYBRID there is nothing comparable for so many different kinds of stirring within a biogas tank.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
ARMATEC: Currently, it is only to be hoped that it will soon go a bit more back to reality and Corona will no longer dominate the world market so much. With material bottlenecks and delivery problems, it has been hard enough for a long time now. A lack of trade fairs for personal customer care have done their bit to make it not easy for all medium-sized companies. However, renewable energies are still the way to go and it remains to be seen to what extent political regulations, legislation and other factors will pave the way. There are still some opportunities for export as soon as the depending countries adapt their regulations. It would be a win-win situation for the respective country and for our industry.
