The FREEZYBOY® story began in 2015 when one of the company’s founders realized that effective recycling of organic waste had the potential to make a lasting difference in the environment. What many don’t know: Organic waste and food scraps still end up in the majority of incinerators due to the disruptive factors that occur during disposal. Over 250kg per household annually. Throughout Europe, 45 million tons of CO2 are produced in this way. These emissions in the waste incineration can be avoided by the correct disposal via bio garbage can and even better – thanks to the recycling to biogas this raw material makes a significant contribution to the green revolution. Sustainable bioenergy from natural raw materials, completely CO2 free. That is what closes the circle.
The idea for FreezyBoy was born. The revolution of waste systems to maximize the recycling rate thanks to more convenience and to enable recycling of bio-waste anywhere and anytime.
“CleanTech for the masses”.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
AVANTYARD: With AVANTYARD, we focus on developing and marketing the latest technology and systems. Our product line is based, at its core, on a technology platform for the latest generation mini-coolers, for use in stationary applications.
We have recognized that modern demands for contemporary living, requires the further development of today’s simple containers. We fill it with technology and functionality. This allows the disposal of bio-waste without disturbing factors or odors. The new standard for bio-waste recycling.
E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
AVANTYARD: For 2021, we have made the product platform more efficient and further optimized with a focus on power consumption. These are incremental improvements to the original model, but they are a priority for us.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
AVANTYARD: Our product portfolio currently consists of 3 different basic models, aligned to our sales channels B2C, B2B and real estate projects. The Biofreezer as a base is included in all of them. Then there is a configuration as a waste system and supplementary also equal with the corresponding extract for the all-in-one solution for institutional builders and real estate projects.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
AVANTYARD: The market for CleanTech recycling products is growing strongly. We see a clear broadening of the market here, from the original early adopters to the mass market. Even if our production capacity does not yet allow us to achieve a price that is suitable for the mass market, this will be our path.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
AVANTYARD: In the kitchen building industry, sustainability and CleanTech are steadily catching up with prevailing topics such as IoT and smart home. We also see a trend towards convergence, that smart-home applications increasingly need to have a business rationale from an environmental perspective as well. This of course suits us and, together with the broad formation of opinion that we also have to prevent (indirect) emissions more and more in operation, is of course also responsible for our currently very strong growth.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
AVANTYARD: Generally speaking, real innovations that fundamentally make our everyday lives easier are rather rare. Our industry is no exception. In the cooking sector, the last real innovations that we measure ourselves against are certainly Quooker and Bora. Quooker has succeeded in perfectly staging the need for integral functionality – everything from a single water tap. On the other hand, I see the success of Bora as a very clear customer-driven need. The basic technology of a fume hood has not changed, but the way the product is installed has. In modern open kitchens, people want to let design speak for itself. It is quite annoying if the view of the beautiful kitchen front to the open living environment is prevented by a descending fan. These are design decisions that the customer wants and pays a premium for.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
AVANTYARD: Beyond 2021, I see increasing social pressure to develop commercial solutions for sustainability that are suitable for everyday use and represent real progress. For me, sustainability does not necessarily mean doing without, but rather checking existing procedures and processes for sustainability and adapting them accordingly. In this area of tension, politics will also be challenged to set pragmatic framework conditions so that zero-emission goals can be achieved by a society.
