Interview with Ronni K. Laursen, Sales Manager at ACTA, BEMA A/S.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Ronni K. Laursen: Based on consultancy and needs analyses of individual customers, BEMA designs, produces, and markets component parts and complete solutions in the field of screw-conveyor technology, stainless-steel process equipment, and crushers/shredders for gypsum, plastic, insulation materials, wood waste, and other types of waste.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
R.K.L: BEMA is a made-to-order enterprise in the field of screw components and screw conveyors. This means that all products are custom made and specialized to exact fit the customers needs or specifications. We have 7 people employed in our R & D department, with engineering backgrounds, ready for helping any customer, with designing and manufacturing of their projects in high quality and with full documentation. Just for mentioning a small part, then we have made a small BEMA shredder, which are attending for usage within food industries, to shred and process food waste or fail production from product lines. It is made to enter the market at a very sharp price, to disrupt any existing products on the market.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
R.K.L: We operate in the field of screw components/flights, complete screw rotors, complete screw conveyors and transport solutions. We also produce tanks/silos/bins in both carbon steel or stainless steel. Lastly, we own and produce the product group named ACTA, which are big shredders/crushers and bale/bag openers. A full scale of our product range can be view on our website under product or even better under solution. BEMA A/S can make any special requirement, in any special metal, for any special application or industry. BEMA is ISO certified and approved to produce machinery to the food industries, with all the necessary certificates required for that. This shows the high quality and documentation level we have as standard.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
R.K.L: As a multi supplier into many different industries, then we operate on several markets with both benefits and consequences accordantly. We don’t have many competitors that span over such diverse markets as we do, which lower the risks for us, for declining. However, overall, it is blooming and increasing markets, we operate in – where supply security and high quality have been the wining factors.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
R.K.L: We see an increasing amount of awareness in the markets we operate in, due to energy crisis and in general disturbance of uncontrollable factors. Some customers will tend to hold back major investments in 2023, as we see it, at least until more stable prices on energy and raw material are seen in the global markets, unless it is critical components they need. As we are supplier of customized order-to-order products, then there will always be a place for us in the markets and fortunate we also see an increase in more and more specialized components in special raw material/metals for customers production equipment or machinery.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
R.K.L: It is hard to innovate a 2000-year-old invention, as a screw conveyor is (Archimedes screw) – but we have adopted the development of technologies, so that we can now, with the use of a highly technology 3D scanner, provide full mapping of factory layouts. This we can use, when projecting and designing a full screw conveyor setup, to fit exactly into a complete factory line, while taking into consideration of existing walls, pillars or other equipment already install, that occupies space.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
R.K.L: Coming out of 2022 with another great result, similar to 2021, then we see 2023 a bit cloudier. We calculate a small growth still, but not a good as the previous 2 years.
