CSC is a globally operating manufacturer of rolling and super precision bearings of all types. Dimensions go from a bore of 10mm up to an OD of 300 mm. CSC looks back on a successful 50-year company history and is today a high quality supplier for many industries – certified according to IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO 14001 and many more.
With almost 1000 employees CSC produces bearings for the world market to all fields of industry on more than 130,000 m² factory floor. In 2023 CSC extended its production area by another 25,000m² on a newly built production site. This new plant is intended for bearings of precision class P4 and higher. CSC is known as a reliable producer and supplier for high quality bearings used by well-known manufacturers of drives, gearboxes, machine tools, elevators and construction machines.
“Made in Germany” bearing design guarantees compatibility to industry standards as well as the latest technology.
CSC Bearing Europe GmbH offers customers perfect service, fast processing and comprehensive technical support, development and engineering services, as well as own warehouses in Germany and Asia. Within Europe a high number of products – especially super precision bearings – can be delivered directly from stock.
Interview with Dr. Markus Wolf, CEO of CSC Bearing Europe GmbH.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Markus Wolf: We are manufacturer of precision bearing from a bore diameter 10 mm up to an outer diameter of 300mm.
In Germany we have our European headquarter. Here we support our customers with our technical department for application engineering and bearing design. In our German warehouse we have over 500 different types of bearings available directly from stock.
We supply customers from different industries, like:
- Automotive
- Grinding machines
- Tooling machines
- Precision measurement equipment
- Elevator-industries
- pumps and compressor
- electric motors.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
M.W: We are working on new highspeed ball bearings e.g., for e-motors application. Lower noise and less friction for higher performance. New materials are also a field of R&D. Already available are super-thin-section (flex) bearings for gears and robotic applications. Please check also our YouTube channel for this.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
M.W: Most bearings are available from a bore diameter of 10 mm to a OD of 300mm
- Deep Groove Ball Bearings P6 up to P4 also as hybrid versions
- Angular Contact Ball Bearings in 40 degree for pumps or compressors – P6 up to P4
- Angular Contact Ball Bearings with 15 and 25 degree for tooling and main spindle applications
- Double Row Cylindrical Roller Bearings
- Axial Angular Contact Ball Bearings
- – ZKLN/ZKLF – > double row
- – BSB /760 -> single row
- Thrust Ball Bearings
- Four-point bearing
- Spherical roller bearings
- Needle Roller / Axial Cylindrical Roller Bearing (ZARN/ZARF)
- Rotary Table Bearings
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
M.W: Because rolling bearings are used in every area, such as household applications, automotive parts and manufacturing machinery, this market is in constant growth. Due to the change in electric mobility, we see also a new additional demand for high quality bearings.
Increasing demands on rolling bearing industry, the need for running smoothness, higher accuracy or less friction, drives us to develop bearings that are optimized for high energy efficiency and long life.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
M.W: In general, the trend is towards increasing speeds and higher accuracy, while reducing noise and vibrations. Also, like other industries, everything is made more compact, while keeping the same or increasing performance.
At CSC Bearing, we have developed a new series of deep groove ball bearings that can achieve much higher speeds than conventional deep groove ball bearings. Furthermore, our research and development centers are dedicated to optimizing our materials such as working with different steels and alloys.
With robotics and other filigree technologies, we believe that the thin-section bearing segment will play a bigger role in the future than they have so far.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
M.W: Super thin section bearings (flex bearings) with ring strength less than 3 mm. The cross-section does not change, as with the normal DIN ISO series, but is constant with increasing bore diameter. The bearings obtain their high rigidity as soon as they are mounted on the shaft. The load ratings and service lives of the thin-section bearings are almost equal to those of normal rolling bearings, with the great advantage of being able to save 80-90% on installation space and weight.
Typical applications are robotics and special gearings.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
M.W: We see a strong growing demand in super precision and high-end DGBB. Price pressure and high availability are also important topics that drive us. To be prepared we invest in R&D with advanced test rigs, we invest in more stock, we invest in new highly efficient production facilities and we enlarged our technical team to offer more and even faster support in application engineering.
