It all started 30-ish years ago, when a small electromechanics company was born to provide maintenance and assistance on second hand foam and fiber cutting machines. It didn’t take long until the first FEMA brand cutting machine was produced, and from that starting point they grew, year by year, along with the team of mechanical and software engineers, developers and technicians.
Lots of resources have been, and still are, dedicated to R&D in order to widen their products array and improve their quality.
Interview with Chiara Muolo, Junior Graphic Designer at FEMA Industry.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Chiara Muolo: FEMA Industry produces cutting equipment for most kind of polyurethane foam with cutting-edge technology. Our division markets, designs and manufacturers are: cutting machines, process lines for cutting and handling of PU foam, management software, auxiliary systems.
FEMA Industry takes care of its customers from start to finish, providing several additional services:
- HOTLINE: telephone assistance service
- BLADES AND SPARE PARTS PROVISION
- DRAWING ASSISTANCE by our software department, to solve problems or defects on technical drawings and nesting.
- TRAINING, both remote and on-site, on the use of the software.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
C.M: Some of the latest FEMA Industry’s solutions include:
HS – a horizontal slitter, which can create sheets and slabs out of PU blocks. It features a horizontal moving table equipped with a vacuum system. With its high processing speed and low friction materials, it cuts great volumes of material in short periods of time.
HG – our new guillotine system for cutting off PU blocks. It’s available in two models, ready to work as a stand-alone system or in a foam production line. Equipped with a large blade and almost no-friction guides, this system will slice through the toughest materials with no effort and make them clean for cutting procedures, storage, shipping or any other use.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
C.M: We offer multipurpose solutions and equipment for shaping and cutting PU foam:
- CNC systems: controlled by the ever-evolving LF2000 software, which controls the machine movement and offers lots of intuitive options for automatic cutting, without even having to draw.
- Horizontal systems
- Vertical systems: both manual and automatic.
- Profiling and peeling
- Sponge and milling
- Cutting off
- Second-hand and reconditioned machines
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
C.M: FEMA Industry is all over the world: Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Oceania, Africa. Fairs and exhibitions around the world give the public the opportunity to learn about us and our products.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
C.M: We stand on the brink of a fourth technological revolution that has the potential to raise global income levels and improve the quality of life for population around the worlds. It ensures higher productivity, mainly due to the increasing automation, that will also lead to the improvement in the quality of life and the creation of new job opportunities. FEMA Industry proactively faces the challenges of automation, innovation and optimization of Industry 4.0. For this reason, innovation, interconnection and simplicity are the prerogatives of our cutting systems.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
C.M: Our most innovative product marketed is our GIOTTO EVO. It’s a horizontal CNC shaper which can cut expanded resins, semirigid and flexible polyurethane at top speed. It has a revolutionary architecture and innovative components, such as its automatic tensioning system. This has been patented by FEMA Industry, as unlike the other tensioning systems it has the ability to automatically balance the machine components out while operating. Furthermore, it is equipped with our innovative LF2000 software which can control all axes and apparatuses movement, featuring automatic functions and nesting. Being on a PC, it also allows an easy management of drawings from your office.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
C.M: 2022 is straining the global market, due to the worldwide situation. However, FEMA Industry continues its path and its evolution. Our mission is to strengthen FEMA Industry’s role around the world, by entering different markets, providing custom process lines, integrating the multidirectional communication between production and product.
