Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
PENN ELCOM: The core product ranges for Penn Elcom are flight case hardware components and 19” racks and accessories. Both product lines are predominantly made from steel or aluminum.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
PENN ELCOM: The company is constantly launching new products in both sectors. The most recent innovations have come from the use of Salvagnini Panel benders. These machines allow our design teams to produce more inventive product modifications but still keep manufacturing efficiency.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
PENN ELCOM: Penn Elcom has two core product ranges, Flight Case Hardware components and 19” racking.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
PENN ELCOM: The market for both these product ranges is recovering from the impacts of COVID. Flight Case Hardware is used on flight cases used for touring music events. During the pandemic this industry was effectively shut down as live entertainment closed all around the world. It has been staggering to see how well the industry has recovered from such a serious event.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
PENN ELCOM: There has been large growth in our industry since 2021. It is unknown if this is pent up demand caused by COVID or whether this level of growth will continue into 2022 – 2023. Our industry has been expanding rapidly in the last 40 years as a result of changing technology that has led to more live entertainments worldwide and increased technology in both the home and business environments.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
PENN ELCOM: Some of our most innovative products marketed in the last 2 years include a slide & rotate 19” server rack, a range of parcel delivery drop boxes, office meeting pods and online software that allows customers to design their own bespoke finished products and transfer to our production facility.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
PENN ELCOM: It is difficult to be certain, we initially expected good growth globally in 2022. However, we are starting to see early signs that the Russia Ukraine conflict will have a substantial impact on our industry due to the supply of raw materials. We will have to stay positive, work hard and see what takes place. COVID has made our company very resilient so we are positive our operations can continue smoothly.
