Sintratec is the leading Swiss developer for industrial 3D printers and professional software solutions for additive manufacturing. The company’s systems are in operation worldwide in various industries, research institutes and universities.
Interview with Gabor Koppanyi, Head of Marketing & Sales at Sintratec.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Gabor Koppanyi:
- Small to mid-sized series production
- Industrial prototyping
- Research and development
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
G.K: With the launch of the Material Developer Upgrade, Sintratec now offers a software feature to open new possibilities for material research and development. Configurations can be made each step along the process – from digital part preparation to various steps during printing. Users can adjust over 100 parameters in total. Those include slicing settings, layer application behavior, laser power, control of heating zones and many more. As a highlight users can completely customize the laser pathing strategy with scripts. The Material Developer Upgrade is flexible, fast, and fully integrated into the Sintratec Central printing software.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
G.K: Sintratec S2
The Sintratec S2 System is a modular end-to-end solution based on Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology. Inside its Laser Sintering Station, a powerful 10-watt laser fuses the powder particles into mechanically strong polymer objects – fast and precisely. Once a print job is completed, the Material Core Unit, which contains the printed parts, is easily removed, freeing the Laser Sintering Station up for the next print job. The dedicated Material Handling Station ensures a hassle-free depowdering of the parts. The Sintratec S2 system is designed to be scaled up individually depending on certain needs and is suited for rapid prototyping as well as for the production of small to mid-sized series, just like LiSEC in Austria did.
Sintratec Kit
The Sintratec Kit is the world’s first and only assembly kit in the field of Selective Laser Sintering. The kit is easy to operate and especially suitable to produce functional prototypes. The 3D printer can be integrated into any production environment and supports multiple materials. Sintratec Kit has been successfully used in a wide range of research and development projects for instance at FabrX in London.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
G.K: The 3D Printing market is constantly growing approx. 20% per year according to our experience and trusting the global reports.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
G.K: There are many, but especially because of the critical supply chain situation we see more and more companies shifting back to local production
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
G.K: With the above mentioned MDU (Material Developer Upgrade) we are opening up complete new fields in application enabling. The customer is not bound to the existing materials we or the market offers, he can create or bring his own specific material for 3D Printing on our systems. This opens up a complete new way of application enabling.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
G.K: So far, we see a very positive trend compared to the last years with Covid-19. The unstable global situation is creating a Mindshift for local and sustainable production.
