KLIMTOP, DESIGNER AND MANUFACTURER OF CROP STORAGE SOLUTIONS

KLIMTOP by UBBAK is a manufacturer of crop storage solutions: cooling, ambient ventilation for potatoes and vegetables. The company’s mission is to provide agricultural and agri‑food industry stakeholders, internationally, with sustainable and high‑performance solutions for the long‑term storage of root vegetables and cereals. Their solutions ensure product quality while protecting the environment and optimizing energy efficiency.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

We are dealing with cooling, ambient ventilation, re-heating, humidification, Internet Remote Controls, and optimization of power consumption (which can integrate other energy power like photovoltaic). Our solutions apply to both box and bulk storages. We operate worldwide.

What’s the news about new products/services?

For some products such as onions, garlic, or scallions, etc…it is necessary to proceed to a drying phase before cooling the product. Our new KT DRY product range makes it possible to dehydrate the storage ambiant air and dry the vegetables.

Building on this commitment to performance and sustainability, we have also developped a refurbishment program for our older refrigeration units, providing upgraded performance and delivering an energy‑consumption reduction of 30% to 45%, depending on the machine’s power.

In line with our strategy to strengthen our technological and industrial capabilities, Klim’Top Controls joined UBBAK in 2025. UBBAK is the network of companies specializing in cooling and refrigeration technologies within the Vinci Energies Group, providing us with broader expertise and new opportunities for innovation.

What are the ranges of products/services?

Our range of refrigeration and ventilation units meets all storage requirements for box and bulk vegetables, up to 4000 tons /unit.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

The post‑harvest market is expanding rapidly, driven by rising demand for high‑quality fresh products, efforts to reduce food waste, and the need to extend storage life. At the same time, the cold chain is gaining importance, with rapid‑cooling technologies, controlled‑atmosphere storage, and smart packaging becoming more widespread to limit losses and stabilize quality. The sector is also shifting toward more natural solutions, with increasing use of biopesticides, natural coatings, and biological treatments in response to regulatory and consumer expectations.

What can you tell us about market trends?

Producers and storage operators are increasingly investing in refrigeration units, controlled‑atmosphere facilities, and digital monitoring systems. These technologies aim to extend shelf life, reduce losses, and ensure consistent processing quality throughout the year.

At the same time, shifting consumer expectations are accelerating the move toward more energy‑efficient and sustainable storage solutions. This push for efficiency is also driving the sector to adopt advanced technologies that optimize operations and improve overall performance.

Beyond these technical developments, the potato market itself is becoming more globalized, with production and trade expanding across regions and supply chains becoming more interconnected.

Finally, the sector is facing growing climate and supply chain challenges. Producers must contend with climate variability affecting yields and quality, rising energy costs for storage, and logistical disruptions. These pressures further reinforce the need for robust, efficient, and flexible storage systems capable of ensuring product stability in an increasingly unpredictable environment.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

Digitalization and smart management tools are one of the strongest innovation drivers.

What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2026?

We expect a slight decrease in 2026 compared with 2025, although the figures should remain above 2024 levels
