Rivit is an Italian company founded in 1973 in Ozzano dell’Emilia, specialising in the design, manufacture and distribution of fastening systems and tools for sheet metal assembly. The company offers an extensive catalogue of consumables (blind rivets, threaded rivet nuts, lockbolts) and professional tools for their installation: from manual riveting tools to battery ones, including hydro-pneumatic ones, also in a more powerful version. Rivit’s mission is to be the go-to partner in the various sectors that require strong and resistant fasteners, offering products, technical advice and tailor-made solutions.
Interview with Francesco Montanari, CEO of Rivit.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Francesco Montanari: We operate in three main areas: industry, building and retail, providing technical consulting services to help customers choose the most suitable fasteners for their applications. In particular, we operate in the automotive and industrial bodywork market, heavy carpentry, construction and photovoltaics, offering specific solutions based on experience and research.
What’s the news about new products/services?
F.M: Among the latest innovations we have introduced are advanced solutions for industrial fastening automation, such as the CONTROLRIV Gen3 monitoring system, which automatically verifies correct fastening, preventing errors and losses. This solution represents a step forward in the digitalisation and control of the riveting process.
What are the ranges of products/services?
F.M: Our range is very wide, with five families of blind rivets (standard, structural, special, sealed and cartridge), a wide range of threaded rivet nuts in different types of materials and shapes, and finally lockbolts, as well as manual, hydro-pneumatic and battery tools, and riveting and automatic assembly control systems for Industry 4.0. We market our products under the Rivit brand, but we are also authorised distributors in Italy for a number of international partners such as PEM®, HAEGER® and Southco®.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
F.M: The fastener market in Italy is inevitably affected by the complex global economic situation, which is having a significant impact on the manufacturing sector in particular, our main area of reference. In a context characterised by a general reduction in demand, Rivit is tackling this phase with a proactive approach, leveraging our decades of experience, established partnerships and openness to new markets and application segments. Our international presence, which now extends to more than 60 countries, is a strategic strength that allows us to diversify risk and continue to grow even in a challenging economic environment.
What can you tell us about market trends?
F.M: The industrial market is increasingly favouring the most innovative fastening solutions. Blind rivets are replacing the classic bolt and screw solution in an increasing number of applications. Threaded rivet nuts are increasingly used in all boxed product requirements, mainly in sheet metal. Just think of the battery packs in new electric cars, which require 200-300 threaded rivet nuts.
The applications of structural rivets are certainly increasing, and I believe that lockbolts will also see increasing use as anti-theft devices, for example in ground-mounted photovoltaic installations.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
F.M: Among our most innovative products, I would highlight our control and automation systems: solutions that reduce errors and waste, increase productivity and enable the collection of process data. Our flagship product in this area is CONTROLRIV Gen3, which recently won the prestigious Best Award at Blechexpo in Stuttgart for its ability to meet the application needs of many manufacturing companies around the world. We also focus heavily on more specialised products for vertical applications, such as GTRERIV, neoprene-sealed rivets for photovoltaic panel installations or other weather-exposed roofing, which highlight how our product range can meet the most specific fastening requirements.

What estimations do you have for the end of 2025?
F.M: Our goal is to further consolidate Rivit’s presence in industrial and sheet metal markets, strengthening the skills that set us apart and the specialisation that has always been our strong point. At the same time, we are looking with interest at new areas of application where the use of rivets and fastening systems can still grow and generate value.
Finally, we will continue to develop our international vocation, strengthening our presence abroad both through our offices in India and Morocco, but also through participation in trade fairs, together with the other companies of the FERVI Group (of which we have been a part since 2021) and with our local distributors.
