TANIQ DEVELOPING DESIGN TOOLS AND ROBOTIC WINDING MACHINES FOR RUBBER AND COMPOSIT

TANIQ is a Dutch high-tech company specializing in automation solutions for reinforced rubber and composites design & manufacturing. The company has 20 years of experience helping manufacturers develop products and automate their production processes. TANIQ technology has been applied in a wide range of products, like hoses, rubber expansion joints, pipe plugs, composite pressure vessels and rockets, supporting demanding industries including automotive, mining, defense and space. By combining digital product design with automated manufacturing, they help clients shorten development time, reduce reliance on scarce skilled labor, and enable scalable, cost-effective production.

Interview with Soren Blomaard, Co-Founder of TANIQ.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Soren Blomaard: TANIQ operates in two main areas:

  • Reinforced Rubber Solutions: We collaborate with our clients to develop the optimal product specifically designed for automation. Once the products are developed, we support the transition to automated production through robotic winding equipment, inhouse developed CAD/CAM software, and implementation of the production process at the customer’s facility.
  • Composites/Filament Winding Automation: Since 2007, we have been developing advanced robotic winding systems, and powerful CAD/CAM filament winding software TaniqWind Pro, for the design and manufacturing of composite structures. Our technology enables customers to design composite parts using the most professional and intuitive software, simulate the design, optimize fiber placement, and produce high-quality parts with our advanced filament winding machines.

What’s the news about new products/services?

S.B: For reinforced rubber solutions, TANIQ continues to further automate processes making it less dependent on skilled labor. First of all, instead of simply automating traditional manual processes, TANIQ works with clients to redesign the product and the production method specifically for automation. Second, by combining multiple material application processes, and introducing automated cutting/attaching functions, we develop fully automated solutions for multi-material processes in a single robotic machine. Using our in-house CAD/CAM design software, we embed both design methodology and manufacturing know-how directly into the software, enabling precise, repeatable production and reducing dependency on increasingly scarce skilled labor.

For composites solutions, TANIQ introduces a new Hybrid Filament Winding + AFP technology. Previously, Filament Winding and Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) were two separate processes. TANIQ now combines them into one integrated system, allowing manufacturers to take advantage of high-speed filament winding while adding local reinforcements by AFP where needed – all within a single design and robotic setup.

What are the ranges of products/services?

S.B: For rubber industry, TANIQ supports manufacturers through three core offerings.

We assist with product development, working with clients to design reinforced rubber components that are optimized for automated production, improving not only performance, but also material efficiency, and manufacturability.

We provide specialized in-house CAD/CAM software built specifically for each application. This software embeds design methodology and process expertise, enabling engineers to create accurate digital models and generate manufacturing data.

TANIQ develops advanced robotic winding machines that automate the multi-material application process, including placement, cutting and attaching. Each of these offerings can stand alone or complement existing workflows.

For composite industry:

We offer TaniqWind Pro, our powerful filament winding software for designing and manufacturing composite parts such as pipes and pressure vessels. The software is the most actively developed software on the market, resulting in continuous improvements and new functions for the users.

Next to the software, we also supply robotic filament winding machines. TANIQ has been a major player in robotic winding for nearly two decades, with expertise in automating complex winding paths, integrating additional manufacturing technologies such as AFP and the best support team.

What can you tell us about market trends?

S.B: Since we develop products for manufacturers in a wide range of industries, we are not bound to a specific market. In general, we see that most of our clients in the rubber industry are facing difficulties with finding and keeping skilled personnel. This drives them to search for more automated production solutions, enabling them to keep producing locally at competitive costs.

In the composites industry, we see a big growth in Defense and Space applications. These developments are driven by a need for more advanced design software and manufacturing systems, providing the engineers with more powerful tools to develop high-performance products more efficiently and with repeatable high quality.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

S.B: TANIQ’s most innovative services & products include:

Robotic winding solutions combining multi-material processes in a single software and robotic environment. For our clients, this replaces the problems of combining multiple software packages and different machines, by offering a single system solution.

Our in-house developed filament winding software TaniqWind Pro offers intuitive tools for designing complex composite structures and also generates production programs. TaniqWind Pro is the only software with a robotic post-processor, making it the go-to software for robotic filament winding.

What estimations do you have for the end of 2025?

S.B: In 2026, we will see a big growth in Space and Defense related technology and applications. With our Technology Platform, we will specifically respond to the growing need for integral solutions combining multiple materials and application processes, needed in advanced systems like rockets and similar high-performance products.
