Interview with Thomas Hu, General Manager (Europe) at UNI-TREND Technology EU GmbH.
What are the most common challenges your clients face before turning to your solutions?
Thomas Hu: Many of our clients — especially in Europe — struggle to balance advanced measurement performance with cost efficiency and ease of integration.
In fields like automotive electronics, renewable energy, and education, engineers often face inconsistent data, limited bandwidth, or complex user interfaces that slow down their work.
They are looking for instruments that deliver accuracy, simplicity, and long-term reliability — without the steep learning curve or high ownership costs of traditional brands.
In what ways do your products directly address these challenges and remove barriers to efficiency?
T.H: At UNI-T, we focus on turning complex measurements into clear results. Our latest 12-bit oscilloscopes and high-bandwidth spectrum analyzers combine precision and intuitive interfaces, helping users reduce setup and debug time by up to 30%.
By integrating automation tools, advanced triggering, and protocol analysis, engineers can now achieve faster validation cycles with fewer manual adjustments.
The result is improved workflow efficiency and faster time-to-insight.
What role does innovation (in design, materials, digitalization, automation, etc.) play in transforming client problems into measurable results?
T.H: Innovation at UNI-T starts with listening to engineers. Our R&D centers in China and Germany work closely with users to continuously refine hardware performance, noise optimization, and user experience. We also apply modular design principles, enabling customers to upgrade features such as bandwidth or memory depth over time. This user-driven innovation ensures our products evolve in step with the needs of modern labs and industries.
Can you share a concrete example where your product significantly boosted a client’s productivity?
T.H: A German university recently replaced older 8-bit oscilloscopes with our 12-bit MSO5000HD series.
The improved resolution and signal clarity allowed students and researchers to observe waveform anomalies that were previously missed. Setup time in lab sessions dropped by nearly 40%, while measurement accuracy increased significantly — leading to faster experiments and better data quality. It’s a great example of how the right instrument can directly enhance both learning efficiency and research outcomes.
What future client challenges do you anticipate, and how are your products evolving to address them?
T.H: The future of test and measurement lies in intelligence, integration, and accessibility. We anticipate growing demand for AI-assisted testing, remote monitoring, and sustainable instrumentation.
Our roadmap includes smart diagnostic algorithms, modular system architectures, and cross-platform data analysis — helping engineers adapt to fast-changing technologies like EV systems, 6G communications, and clean energy research. Our goal is to make precision measurement tools more affordable, connected, and future-proof for every engineer.
