VELILLA GROUP, MANUFACTURING TECHNICAL CLOTHING FOR MORE THAN 75 YEARS

Velilla Group is an international, family-owned that for 75 years has been designing, manufacturing and distributing technical apparel with impeccable service, ensuring quality, style and comfort. The company has more than 30 years of experience in international markets, with our own offices in Spain and Vietnam; as well as branches in several European countries and customers all over the world.

A brief description of the company and its activities.

Our ability to adapt to the needs of our clients, and to be able to work with both small and large volumes, in addition to offering a wide range of colors and sizes, has made us a current benchmark in corporate workwear and promotional textiles.

At Velilla Group we work with our sights set on the future to offer a value proposition to our clients and generate a positive impact on our environment. We want to be part of the transforming change in the industry, contributing to the creation of a long-term sustainable development. This is why the Green Project was born, a program that is part of our commitment and where we encompass and promote all the initiatives that we carry out to take care of the environment.

Velilla Group is in full international expansion, so we have decided to strengthen our distribution through innovation. Following the expansion of our logistics center, it has doubled in size to almost 27,000 square meters of floor space, being able to reach an annual storage capacity of 24 million garments and increasing our order capacity to 97,000 garments per day.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Velilla Group manufactures three major international brands: Velilla, VPRO and MUKUA, whose catalogs incorporate new references and are constantly updated.

Velilla is our leading brand specialized in workwear, with a wide catalog of more than 350 references divided into 5 families:

  • High visibility
  • Industry
  • Food Industry
  • Health and Services
  • Hospitality

VPRO is our safety footwear brand. Our products, certified in compliance with all current regulations, are designed to focus on the needs of professionals with the aim of developing the best safety footwear on the market and match Velilla’s uniforms.

MUKUA is our promotional textile brand. It is modern and creative, and has a very defined commitment: to offer our customers the style and comfort that most inspires them. All this without forgetting sustainability through our eco-responsible line: MUKUA Natura.

What’s the news about new products/services?

Our three brands’ catalogues are constantly updated to offer the best products to our customers. We are currently preparing the launch of our Velilla’s 2025 catalogue, and we can reveal some of the most relevant novelties: the use of lighter and more comfortable materials, with 2 and 4-way stretch and more breathable fabrics. On the other hand, for outdoor use, we will include UV-treated items in some references, as well as UPF 50+ and GRS certification, using polyester from post-consumer recycled bottles and a new micro-birdeye fabric of exceptional softness and lightness.

Regarding our services, thanks to the expansion of our logistics center, we have been able to increase the center’s productivity by 30%, capable of processing more than 500,000 orders per year in less than 24 hours. We also have our own in-house marking workshop in order to provide advice on printing techniques and personalize our customers’ uniforms.

What are the ranges of products/services?

If we focus on Velilla, we can observe the following trends according to the different product families:

  • Industry: the main novelties are referred to our bi-color game-changing concept under the Total Match and Solid Match collections. Inspired by mountain sports, these garments focus on 4-way stretch and thermoregulation. In this sector, fabrics are evolving significantly, with a greater presence of elasticity and pronounced aesthetic features.
  • High visibility: our main features are two-tone colors, UV, cotton-polyester fabrics and the complete line of segmented stripes as the main innovative concept. High visibility garments are evolving significantly with the democratization of segmented tape, which is becoming the new market standard, relegating rigid tape to the first price options. In addition, there is a growing offer in UPF-certified garments, with antibacterial, anti-mosquito and other advanced features.
  • Healthcare and services: the key points here are the colors and 4 different fabrics in medical uniforms, influenced by the fitness sector with features such as quick-drying, breathability, anti-odor and anti-bacterial treatments. These fabrics enhance the user experience and provide safety in professions with bacterial risk.
  • Hospitality collection: the key points here are the colors and the different fabrics used (Stretch, Microfiber, etc.), with a significant fashion influence and a focus on breathability, elasticity and color. In this sector, the difference between a leisure shirt and a work shirt in terms of comfort, aesthetics and softness is minimal.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

The market is constantly changing. The workwear sector is evolving at a very fast pace in recent years, expecting more technical fabrics, higher performance, more functionalities and a greater choice of color. The user is becoming more demanding, and changes in the market happen faster than ever before.

What can you tell us about market trends?

Globally, the trend is moving towards three maxims: user experience, fashion and sustainability. For example, in industry and healthcare, there is a strong influence from the fitness sector, which has developed fabrics with quick drying, breathability, anti-odor treatments, elasticity and adaptability to the body. These properties improve the user experience and provide safety with antibacterial treatments, especially in professions with bacterial risk. Investment in color is important too, especially in public-facing professions, where the image that professionals project is of great importance. In some countries, such as Chile, color is used functionally to identify the training of each worker within a hospital.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

Those that include “unique” features such as silver, UV, anti-bacterial and liquid repellent fabrics. Sustainable fabrics, such as the new rayon fabrics with 73% GRS recycled polyester, are also innovative products, offering the same quality and safety as traditional fabrics. In High Visibility, the democratization of segmented tape and the introduction of garments with UPF 50+ and GRS certification stand out as significant innovations. In Industry, there is a strong inspiration from the sports and fashion sector, with a focus on elasticity, thermoregulation and an increasingly pronounced aesthetic component.

What estimations do you have for 2024?

The outlook for 2024 is positive, with growing demand for sustainable, high-quality fabrics. Continued investment in colors, patterns, breathability, stretch and aesthetics is expected, especially in sectors such as Hospitality, where comfort and appearance are almost indistinguishable between leisure and workwear. The user is increasingly demanding, and changes in the market are faster than ever before. In addition, in the industrial sector, the growing presence of women is driving the development of specific products redesigned to fit the female body shape.
