Vertliner is a field robotics startup company specializing in the development of autonomous unmanned aerial systems, for inspection and monitoring activities, mainly in the construction industry. Their cutting-edge technologies aim to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance safety in diverse and demanding operational environments.
Interview with Gonidakis Konstantinos, PR & Communications Manager at Vertliner.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Gonidakis Konstantinos: Development of autonomous unmanned aerial systems for aerial inspections and monitoring.
Robotic aerial solutions for construction and infrastructure visual inspections.
Environmental monitoring using advanced sensor technologies embedded on the UAS.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
G.K: The preceding quarter has proven to be both productive and bustling for VERTLINER. As we near the launch of our first fully autonomous UAS, we have achieved a series of innovative advancements in AI-powered object detection and autonomous navigation. These developments instill within us the assurance that the forthcoming outcome will be a groundbreaking robotics solution for automating construction tasks, thereby resulting in a paradigm shift in the execution of infrastructure projects.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
G.K: The field of UAS development presents an extensive array of practical applications across various industries. Asset inspection, underground mapping and exploration merely scratch the surface of its potential. Given the adaptability of UAS customization, virtually any challenging or hazardous task stands to benefit from increased safety and efficiency, ultimately conserving valuable resources and, increasing the safety factor for humans in a synergistic manner.
Currently VERTLINER’s robotic aeria solutions offer services and benefits such as:
Accurate Measurements
Succeeding an error range of a few millimetres during the measurement of indoor assets, you can be assured that any submitted report offers accuracy and integrity in the delivery of results.
Data Analysis in speed of light
Asset datasets are delivered to your end from the convenience of your office, on the same day of your digital request.
High degree of safety on site
Without the need for highly skilled engineers and physical visits to every point of the project’s site area, you can succeed in the maximum degree of safety for your personnel.
Precise Operation
Considering the skillset of your personnel, we ensured that the autonomous operation of the robotic aerial platform requires a limited set of skills and capabilities, providing unparalleled safety in its operation.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
G.K: Currently there are numerous companies involved in the autonomous UAS industry, each one bringing different innovative solutions in an effort to address the market’s wide spectrum of needs. Although there are a few companies that have secured highly-valued contracts for various applications, there is still much ground to cover in the field of autonomy, as many of the current products are mostly “autonomously enhanced” and equipped with semi-autonomous features, rather than completely autonomous robots carrying out tasks without the need of human guidance or piloting.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
G.K: The autonomous UAS market is on track for substantial growth between 2024 and 2031, while already exhibiting a steady growth. As many key players keep implementing strategic initiatives, further expansion is expected in the foreseeable future with large-scale markets such as the United States, influencing the global market’s trajectory. Europe is also expected to play a significant role globally, exhibiting impressive growth in CAGR from 2024 to 2031, with the Autonomous UAS market being forecasted to reach multimillion USD by 2031. Despite competition being tough, the clear trend of global recovery instills optimism among investors, attracting new investments in the sector.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
G.K: Considering the wide array of features and applications it would be both unfair and discriminative to just handpick some of them. That being said a non-axiological mention of some of the top features would include omnidirectional flight, mid-air ultrasonic measurements, robust yet lightweight protection domes, retractable charging launch pods, drones equipped with jet engines, and many more sophisticated UAS applications powered by AI.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2024?
G.K: Even though we are still in the 1st quarter of 2024, the new year has already been quiet generous to VERTLINER. As mentioned before, we have already had some significant breakthroughs regarding autonomous flight and operation, which bring us even closer to new innovations, and a great leap forward both for VERTLINER and the autonomous UAS industry.
