INTERVIEW WITH CANGINI AND TUCCI

Cangini and Tucci is a company that manufactures and sells designer lamps made of blown glass. The company was founded in 1961 in Cesena and has been handing down borosilicate glassmaking techniques ever since. Over the years, craftsmanship has been joined by precision, thanks in part to the adoption of increasingly technological tools.

Interview with Alberto Manzoni, Art Director at Cangini and Tucci.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Alberto Manzoni: Cangini and Tucci produces decorative design lamps in blown glass and distributes them worldwide. Its major areas of interest are the home and contract sectors. 

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

A.M: Cangini e Tucci has received two major awards in the design and commercial arena. With our latest product, “Frequency,” we received the best of award in the design plus award, held by the light+building fair in Frankfurt in cooperation with the German design council. This filled us with pride and was a real boost during the fair. A few months earlier we won the supplier of the year award given by licht+concept company. This tells us that we are doing well, both in terms of innovative product research and commercially.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

A.M: Our products are all in the area of decorative and design lighting, the types are different: from pendant lamps, to ceiling lights, wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps. In this way we are able to fully cover our customers’ demands with unique aesthetics.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

A.M: The market is growing and is certainly very technologically advanced. The adoption of LED has led many companies to develop or adopt an ever-innovative technology, and this has caused the average level of product quality to rise vertically.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

A.M: The market currently seeks a product that is both communicative, high-performance, and eco-sustainable. The advantage of having in-house production allows us to experiment a lot with regard to the search for new forms and new ideas, we are constantly in contact with internationally renowned designers and we are making contacts with design universities in Italy. The decision to develop new products with LED sources has certainly been a winning one, we have been adopting this technology for several years now and we manage to have very high lighting performance and at the same time low-consumption and extremely eco-friendly lamps. 

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

A.M: Definitely “Frequency” is our flagship from the point of view of innovation. It adopts an LED we developed in Italy that manages to emit a powerful, constant and homogeneous flow of light over the entire length of the lamp (120cm). 

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

A.M: For 2022, we have focused our attentions on the new catalog with new products that we will develop and present in our booth at the Salone del Mobile, April 2023. See you in Milan!
