AEROCHARGE, THE FUTURE OF WIRELESS POWER

AeroCharge is revolutionizing the way they power devices and track assets for commercial and enterprise applications using long-range wireless power. Their Radio Frequency (RF) power beaming technology delivers continuous power at a distance to devices, keeping them always on and eliminating the inconvenience of dead batteries and cost of battery replacements.

Interview with Marko Vukovic, Founder & CEO at AeroCharge.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Marko Vukovic: AeroCharge is a provider of long-range wireless power technology, which includes products such as wireless power transmitters and wireless power receivers. For home security and safety devices, AeroCharge technology eliminates the need for batteries and battery replacements. This enhances the user experience and accelerates the adoption of wider scale systems to enable home automation and enhance home security and safety. For logistics applications such as inventory tracking, AeroCharge technology allows for automatic tracking of assets over long distances, eliminating the need for manual scanners.

What’s the news about new products/services?

M.V: AeroCharge wireless power transmitter and receiver products are now commercially available for home security and safety applications. This technology may be used to power devices up to 4 meters away with power levels ranging from a few milliwatts to hundreds of milliwatts. Customers can purchase the AeroCharge evaluation kit for rapid prototyping and use case validation to determine if the AeroCharge long-range wireless power technology is the right fit for their product. AeroCharge technology significantly accelerates adoption of home security and safety automation and monitoring devices.

What are the ranges of products/services?

M.V: AeroCharge offers their products as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) under a manufacturing license to allow customers to scale quickly across one or more market verticals. AeroCharge also offers customized wireless power solutions on a case-by-case basis for a wide range of market segments such as smart home, personal care, fitness equipment, consumer accessories, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sensors, and asset tracking.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

M.V: Long-range wireless power for facility security and safety devices is an emerging market that has been evolving over the last ten years. The market penetration is still fairly slow given the limited number of companies that provide long-range wireless power solutions. The estimated size of the smart home market is about $150 billion, with approximately one billion devices being deployed every year. The estimated size for the long-range wireless power market is about $15 billion, with less than a few percent market penetration in 2024.

What can you tell us about market trends?

M.V: The growth and deployment of security and safety devices has been slow over the last few decades, with one of the key barriers being that the devices are powered by batteries. By eliminating the need for batteries and battery replacements, a wider range of devices may be deployed, accelerating market growth.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

M.V: AeroCharge technology uses dynamically focused and steered Radio Frequency signals to transfer power efficiently over several meters. This allows devices to be powered remotely and operate continuously without any battery maintenance.

M.V: What estimations do you have for 2024?

M.V: In 2024, the goal for AeroCharge is to make its technology available to a greater number of partners worldwide and support existing partners in commercializing their products with long-range wireless power. The market is beginning to see early adopters of long-range wireless power release their products, which is a very exciting time for this space as a whole.
