Since Dieter Weber founded the company in 1998, they have been fascinated by the variety of industrial applications for ultrasonic technology. Dieter Weber’s customers, mainly machine and plant manufacturers, supply cleaning systems as well as ultrasonic welding and cutting lines to a wide range of industries. The company’s development department is involved in numerous national and international research projects and is working closely with our clients in order to provide the optimal solution to their tasks.
Interview with Florian Weber, Vice President Sales at Weber Ultrasonics.
What are the company’s main areas of activity?
Florian Weber: Our core business comprises ultrasonic cleaning, welding and cutting. As a manufacturer, we develop and produce customized components and systems that are designed for machine and plant manufacturers as well as end customers. In the field of environmental technology, our subsidiary Weber Entec plays a leading role in ultrasonic disintegration and offers comprehensive solutions for optimizing biogas production and sewage sludge treatment.
What’s the news about new products?
F.W: We are about to roll out an upgrade to our Sonic Digital generator family. The upgrade combines improved functionality in terms of process reliability and optimization as well as integration into higher-level control systems. The topic of “high purity” is developing very promisingly in the field of ultrasonic cleaning. In the fine and ultra-fine cleaning of components and products in chip and semiconductor production, optronics and medical technology, cleanliness requirements have increased immensely in terms of both particulate and film contamination. The aim here is to meet the requirements without destroying the sensitive substrates and surfaces. The avoidance of cross-contamination is also an issue and places great demands on the surface quality of the cleaning systems used, for example.
What are the ranges of products and services?
F.W: Our product portfolio covers all applications. At the heart of the systems are the ultrasonic generators, which are used for all applications. A wide range of frequencies and outputs enables the ultrasonic solution to be designed to fit perfectly. We also offer transducer systems in various designs for liquid-based cleaning and processing. Depending on the application and requirements, these are designed as plate, immersion, patented high-performance rod transducers or flow-through cells.
Converters, boosters and the corresponding welding and cutting sonotrodes are available for welding and cutting. Like the oscillating systems for cleaning, the sonotrodes are designed to customer specifications, optimized using the finite element method and manufactured by us in Germany. Accessories, user and service interfaces and the option of connecting to higher-level control systems round off the portfolio.
What are your estimates for 2025?
F.W: With the changes in the mobility sector, our ultrasonic solutions have become more focused on the medical technology, pharmaceutical and food industries. Thanks to innovative, often customer-specific solutions, we have been able to win new customers in these sectors and are working towards achieving stable results in 2025 as well.
