LANCO, 70 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

LANCO is widely recognized for its industry-leading production of fully integrated deployable solutions, including soft walled shelters, generators, heaters, air filtration devices and flexible tanks, currently used by defense agencies worldwide, as well as civilian governments, international organizations / agencies, and commercial customers.

In the long run, the company’s portfolio has grown to fully cover tents, decontamination systems and rescue boats, and CBRN collective protection systems.

How do you define flexibility, and how is it reflected in the way you serve your customers?

At LANCO, flexibility means designing solutions around our customers, not the other way around. It’s about listening first, then building systems that adapt to specific environments, industries, and even extreme use cases. Whether it’s a single tent or a full-scale deployable infrastructure, we approach every project with openness, speed, and precision.

Can you share an example of adapting to a customer’s specific or complex need?

Absolutely. A recent project involved a European military customer requiring specialised aircraft hangars for MQ-9B UAVs; not your average request. We developed two hangars engineered for long-term performance and tough conditions. Our standard configuration of the hangar withstands 144 km/h wind gusts and -30°C to +55°C temperatures, maintaining interior climates of 18°C in winter and 39°C in summer. For this specific project, each hangar included a high-clearance aircraft door (18x5m), full lighting systems with 750 LUX brightness, and tailored HVAC setups. On top of that, we packed the entire system into reusable, ISO container-ready kits for rapid deployment and redeployment. It was a challenge, and we managed to completely fulfil our customer’s requirements.

What capabilities enable your team to respond quickly to customer-specific challenges?

It starts with our experienced engineers and project managers who thrive in complex environments. Our commitment to product development, combined with strong cross-team collaboration and a “no surprises” planning mindset, allows us to move fast without compromising quality. We also maintain full control of production, which gives us the ability to deliver custom setups within specific timeframes.

A good example is our new RES – Rapid Expeditionary Shelter, developed in direct response to customer feedback. It’s a lightweight, high-performance shelter that can be deployed in under one minute by just two people, ideal for emergency operations.

How do you balance flexibility with efficiency and cost control while still delivering value?

We’ve learned that flexibility doesn’t have to mean inefficiency. Through modular design principles and scalable systems, we offer solutions that still benefit from standardisation where it matters most, like in materials, packaging, or setup workflows. That balance allows us to deliver high-performing solutions that are quick to deploy and fully aligned with each project’s unique requirements.

How adaptable are your solutions to different customer needs or industries?

As a trusted supplier of rapid deployment mobile shelterscollective protection systemsdecontamination systems and temporary buildings, our comprehensive range of durable solutions is tailored to meet the diverse needs of various customers. Whether it’s civil protection, emergency relief, aviation, or events, our solutions are built to adapt, not just in size or specs, but in function. From climate control and fire safety to mobility and storage, we layer in capabilities based on what each customer actually needs. That’s the benefit of working with a partner that builds various shelter solutions for various missions.

How do you collaborate with customers to understand their challenges and deliver results that drive their success?

We believe good communication builds better solutions. Our process starts with deep discovery: understanding the end-use environment, operational goals, and pain points. From there, we try to configure the best solution for our customer’s need, in close coordination with our civil engineering and technical teams. And because we’ve been doing this for over 70 years, we’re often able to offer proactive improvements that customers may not have initially considered. It’s not just about delivering a product, it’s about becoming a trusted part of their operation.

What technologies or tools help your company stay flexible and customer-focused?

We continuously invest in new technology across our production units, from advanced textile welding systems to CNC machining. These tools allow us to enhance our production process, increase precision, and respond quickly to demands. Additionally, we know it’s not only about the tools we use. It’s also about how we use these tools in a smart, customer-centric way that makes the real difference.

How do you maintain high quality and compliance when offering tailored solutions?

Quality is non-negotiable, especially in mission-critical applications. Every LANCO shelter solution undergoes strict internal quality checks, from material testing to structural analysis and performance checks. We also test our shelter solutions on a regular basis in an external laboratory, to see how they perform under rigorous weather conditions. LANCO’s solutions comply with international standards and often exceed them.

When it comes to our clear span deployable structures, they are designed according to local wind and snow loads, following the Eurocode 1: Actions on structures normative. Static calculations are being designed as per EN 13782:2015 standards, Eurocode 3: Design of steel structures and Eurocode 9: Design of aluminum structures.

Our teams are also familiar with industry-specific compliance requirements, which ensures our custom solutions never compromise on reliability or safety.

Have you seen a growing demand for flexible, customised solutions to help customers stay competitive?

Definitely. Every mission is different, and every customer has specific requirements. Some customers are looking for solutions that can evolve with their operations, whether it’s a modular setup, rapid deployment, or multi-functional usage. Flexibility isn’t a nice-to-have anymore; it’s a strategic asset that helps our customers stay responsive in a rapidly changing world.

Looking ahead, how will adaptability and customer-focused flexibility shape your strategy for driving success?

Customer-focused flexibility has always been a guidance for us and continues to be. We’re scaling up production, expanding our offering, and investing in product development, all with the same flexible mindset that got us here. As our customers’ needs become more complex, our role is to deliver solutions that not only meet today’s needs but are ready for tomorrow’s.
