INTERVIEW WITH JAFOGRUPPE

Jafogruppe consists of four individual companies. All of which revolve around plastics. The company is developing and producing their own products. This product range is complemented by a wide variety of trade goods. 

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

The jafoplast GmbH imports, trades and develops various products for the construction sector. A particularly strong suit is the development of waterproofing solutions for the building and construction industry. 

The jafopack GmbH trades various packaging materials for industrial clients as well as individual sized hoods and bags for the export packaging sector. 

Quithell Kunststofftechnik GmbH develops and produces high quality sound proofing solutions for screed flooring. 

Thermoform Plastics GmbH produces logistic trays, panels and parts for automotive and machine construction. We have our own construction and machining. More than 95% of our products are reusable / returnable.

What’s the news about new products/services?

At Jafoplast we have recently released multiple products that are much faster to deploy than previously established products in their respective sector. These include solutions for waterproofing watertight concrete, foundations and basements under various conditions such as moisture or groundwater flow. The main advantage is the ease of installation, thus saving cost. 

At Thermoform Plastics we have extended our machine park: a new thermoforming machine combined with a new press. This allows for faster processes and larger dimensions. 

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

Compared to the years prior, the market has become slower: Decisions and orders are placed more carefully. 

What can you tell us about market trends?

The search for sustainable products is ongoing, but often hindered by economic constraints. 
The intended purpose and lifetime of a product must fit the material choice. A mindset in the likes of ‘all plastics are bad’ is more hurtful to the environment than it is helping. All alternatives have pros and cons that must be carefully considered. It is important to look at the actual numbers based on research, rather than just falling for the image / reputation of a material.     

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

At Jafoplast we are currently developing a soundproofing membrane made entirely of recycled and natural materials. 

The Thermoform Plasctics GmbH is working on an innovative transportation solution, which will save space as well as production and transportation costs. 

What estimations do you have for the rest of 2024?

With the election in the USA and the German government falling apart, I expect that most will be rather hesitant to start new ventures for the remainder of 2024 and early 2025.
