With the industry facing ongoing challenges like skilled labour shortages and sustainability demands, they’re focused on transforming traditional construction methods into streamlined, high-performance operations.
Interview with Ulrich Deichmann, CEO & Renate Trasune, Marketing Coordinator at GMT Robotics.
A brief description of the company and its activities.
Ulrich Deichmann & Renate Trasune: We’re already seeing strong results in markets such as Singapore, Australia, and Europe, where our solutions are reshaping rebar delivery and assembly by optimizing factory workflows and integrating directly with BIM models.
Our proprietary technology is designed to deliver precision, improve safety, and scale easily—even for the most complex projects—as the global construction industry adapts to an ageing workforce, tightening regulations, and ambitious sustainability targets.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
U.D & R.T: At GMT Robotics, we operate at the cutting edge of construction automation, specializing in robotic welding, automated rebar cage assembly, intelligent picking and handling systems, and integrated reinforcement solutions. Our products—like the Dwall ARCAS™ and WeldMate™—are built to optimize safety, precision, and productivity across all stages of rebar manufacturing and assembly.
By serving global infrastructure and tunneling markets, we’re redefining how reinforced concrete structures are built and setting new standards for efficiency, scalability, and industrial innovation.
What’s the news about new products/services?
U.D & R.T: At GMT Robotics, we’ve already put systems in place to automate many of the common challenges in rebar processing and installation—from 2D heavy mesh welding and carpet reinforcement to, more recently, large 3D reinforcement cages for D-walls and structural cores. As we continue to innovate, our development pipeline includes automation solutions tailored for a wide range of applications, including offshore wind farms, nuclear power projects, and major infrastructure tunneling initiatives.
What are the ranges of products/services?
U.D & R.T: Currently, we offer a broad range of automated solutions tailored for rebar reinforcement. This includes Micro ARCAS, which focuses on beams and columns, and our robotic rebar cage assembly system, Dwall ARCAS. For welding applications, we provide WeldMate and Mega WeldMate—both are ultimate solutions designed specifically for industrial-scale welding tasks to double or triple productivity.

Additionally, we have Coupler Buddy, a product designed to streamline rebar handling and fabrication processes. And to support continuous stirrup production, we offer PickMate, which is our universal picking solution.
Altogether, these products help us deliver efficient, precise, and scalable solutions across various aspects of rebar manufacturing and construction.
What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
U.D & R.T: The current market is experiencing a significant construction boom, driven by strong demand and the pursuit of higher profitability. However, this growth is increasingly challenged by a critical shortage of skilled labor and available manhours, leading to project delays and inefficiencies in cost management.
As a result, construction companies are actively seeking innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency, improve workplace safety, and minimize injury rates. In this context, GMT Robotics is emerging as a transformative force—offering cutting-edge technologies that address these industry pain points and redefine productivity standards on modern worksites.
As construction firms worldwide search for future-ready solutions, GMT Robotics is setting a new benchmark for innovation and resilience in the built environment.
What can you tell us about market trends?
U.D & R.T: Clients are increasingly seeking prefabrication, digital integration, and scalable systems to address labour shortages, sustainability, and precision.
At the same time, global infrastructure investments are increasing demand for high-throughput rebar processing.
We’re positioned well in this space, offering flexible and innovative technologies that help our clients meet modern construction challenges with greater productivity and consistency.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
U.D & R.T: One of the most innovative products we work with at GMT Robotics is the Dwall ARCAS™—a next-generation solution for automated rebar cage manufacturing. We’re proud to be part of a team that’s pushing the boundaries of construction automation. Dwall ARCAS transforms the production process by enabling us to fabricate a wide variety of rebar cages with exceptional precision and efficiency.
This system was designed to meet the demands of a fast-paced, rapidly growing construction environment. It helps us significantly reduce labor costs and production time while improving overall project accuracy. As the industry looks for smarter, faster, and more sustainable construction methods, we truly believe Dwall ARCAS is a game-changing technology that’s shaping the future of reinforced concrete construction.
What estimations do you have for the second half of 2025?
U.D & R.T: The level of interest we’ve generated over the past 12 months has been exceptional. Our participation at key international exhibitions — most notably Wire 2024 in Düsseldorf and Bauma 2025 in Munich this April — has significantly raised awareness of our automation solutions. The response from industry professionals has been overwhelmingly positive, and the resulting pipeline of potential projects looks very promising.
At the same time, we recognize a general tendency in parts of the European construction market to approach investment in new technologies with a degree of caution. This is understandable given the broader uncertainties facing the sector, particularly around cost pressures, shifting regulatory demands, and project financing.
That said, we continue to see sustained and growing enthusiasm in key international markets. In particular, Southeast Asia — with Singapore leading the way — and Australia are showing a strong appetite for automation and industrial efficiency. Based on our current commercial discussions and the strength of our leads, we conservatively estimate sales of between €4 to €5 million for the final part of 2025. This reflects not only our expanding footprint but also the confidence the market is beginning to place in next-generation rebar automation.
