Interview with Raimonds Jurgelis, CEO of Bruntor.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Raimonds Jurgelis: Bruntor primarily targets the mobility sector, focusing on providing electric cargo solutions for postal and parcel delivery services. However, its reach has expanded to include food delivery, hospitality, city maintenance, and event organization. These vehicles serve as practical, energy-efficient solutions for navigating urban spaces throughout the whole year, whether for delivering goods, maintaining city infrastructure, or supporting service-oriented industries. As many cities nowadays strive towards climate neutrality, owning and using Bruntor vehicles can be one step closer to achieve this goal.
What’s the news about new products/services?
R.J: The company has gained significant traction within the EIT Urban Mobility project “Green Dash,” where Bruntor’s vehicles are being tested by major clients like Latvian Post, the municipality of Riga, and PostNord in Denmark, validating their real-world efficiency and adaptability. These activities are essential for Bruntor’s continuous growth, aligning with its ten-year vision to develop autonomous, self-driving vehicles equipped with AI-driven data analysis. This advancement aims to enhance both- the daily operations of clients and Bruntor’s solutions.
What are the ranges of products/services?
R.J: Currently, Bruntor offers three versions of its electric four-wheel delivery vehicle to meet the needs of clients. These models include a closed cargo model designed for parcel deliveries, an open cargo modelsuitable for city maintenance, and a platform model used in outdoor event organization and gardening. For anyone interested in having a testing period of Bruntor vehicles, please contact info@bruntor.com. This opportunity and variety of vehicle designs allows clients across different sectors to find specific solutions tailored to their operational needs. Such opportunity has been taken and proven effective by recent partnerships, for example, major retail operator “Rimi” tested vehicles in Tallinn city center, “Riga Forests” maintaining parks in Riga, “Onava” one of the largest horticultural companies in Latvia, which proved Bruntor efficiency by fast order packing. Moreover, Bruntor team is eager to develop their vehicles as much as possible, thus any feedback or even specific needs of the client are taken into account to enhance the user experience to the maximum extent.
What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
R.J: The current market for urban mobility solutions is in need of innovation, as traditional mobility tools are becoming outdated and inefficient. There is a strong demand for practical, compact solutions, and Bruntor is well-positioned to meet this need. However, the market remains challenging, particularly due to regulatory constraints that make it difficult for newcomers to enter. Bruntor is tackling these challenges head-on, understanding the need to stay determined to make a place in this traditionally cautious market. Currently, we are focusing on the Baltic states and Scandinavian markets, but we aim to expand into Central and broader European markets within the next three years.
What can you tell us about market trends?
R.J: A significant trend in the mobility market is the push toward unique, innovative, and unseen solutions. Despite the conservative nature of the sector, there’s an increasing openness to trial new technologies and designs that can solve specific urban mobility problems. This is particularly evident in last-mile delivery and city service sectors, where operators are actively seeking alternatives to traditional methods. Additionally, sustainability continues to drive demand for environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solutions, aligning with broader ESG goals. These trends validate our approach and highlight the market’s readiness for unique solutions like Bruntor vehicles.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
R.J: Among Bruntor’s offerings, its electric cargo vehicles stand out as some of the most innovative solutions in the market as competitors are well-known cargo bicycles or vans. Bruntor vehicles are lightweight, efficient, and offer up to 10 times the energy efficiency of traditional electric vans. Their independent suspension, compact form factor, and adaptable design for various functions make them uniquely suited for city environments, providing safe and reliable transport even on challenging road surfaces.
What estimations do you have for the rest of 2024?
R.J: This year has been extremely active with significant partnerships, projects and events. For the remaining months of 2024, Bruntor has a busy schedule of international events aimed at attracting new investors and partners, setting a strong foundation for growth in 2025. One of this year’s final partnerships will involve setting up a trial period with the local food delivery service provider “Izipizi.lv.” Additionally, Bruntor plans to conclude the above-mentioned EIT Urban Mobility project “Green Dash” early next year, thus preparing to jump into new challenges to reach new heights!
