Hybitat designs, develops and sales hydrogen-based energy storage for buildings to achieve sustainable independence from grid and cost savings. The company was founded in 2023 by Giovanni Pulice (CEO & founder) and Loris Barduca (CTO & founder) and is owned by two Italian companies listed on the Milan stock exchange, namely SIT and e-Novia.
Interview with Giovanni Pulice, CEO of Hybitat.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Giovanni Pulice: Hybitat is mainly active in Italy and Europe and is currently developing other markets worldwide. We serve the residential building sector with solutions for single houses up to multi-apartment buildings. We also offer solutions to small and medium-sized energy-neutral enterprises, as well as commercial buildings such as hotels and gyms. Our solutions can also be used in the context of public buildings
What’s the news about new products/services?
G.P: After we developed the first version of our system in 2023, we implemented the second version in 2024, which successfully passed the certification process and can be installed in the coming weeks at customers who have adopted it in the meantime. The system will be presented at the Key Energy in Rimini early March 2025 and at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt in mid-March 2025.
What are the ranges of products/services?
G.P: Our products are fully modular to be configured to the needs of the end customer. In terms of storage, we offer a module with 100kWh gross hydrogen energy. The energy production system has an input/output power of approximately 5kW. The configuration can include one or more storage modules as well as one or more production systems. In the course of 2025, we will realize a second version of the system with approximately 15kW power in and three-phase 20 kW power output. The system is equipped with a sophisticated energy management system for the optimization of all equipment operating parameters

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
G.P: In general, the market for BESS systems is growing strongly at national, European and global level. The forecast is that this trend will remain stable for several years. While in the past years the market only presented lithium-based solutions, the increasing awareness of sustainability and the need to be able to store energy in greater quantities and for longer periods of time is increasing the interest in technologically innovative solutions, such as those offered by Hybitat
What can you tell us about market trends?
G.P: The overall market for photovoltaic panels and BESS systems is expected to grow significantly over the next few years with a double-digit CAGR.
The market for residential applications is also expected to grow strongly about photovoltaic panels and BESS

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
G.P: Solutions that use hydrogen for energy storage, certainly represent a great innovation for their sustainability and ability to offer real storage solutions that from daily can become weekly, monthly or even seasonal.
In addition, EMSs will have great development in the coming years as AI advances to optimize system operation, energy production and consumption within the building.
What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2025?
G.P: For us, 2025 is the year when our first systems will come onto the market and be installed by our customers. This will allow us to understand even better how the system works, to understand the possible optimizations based on the feedback we will receive from the market.
