Interview with Bonino Edoardo, Sales Area Manager & Marta Nardone, Sales Assistant, Communication at Bonino Carding Machines.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Bonino Edoardo & Marta Nardone: Production of machinery and complete lines for traditional textiles and, in particular, nonwovens for diverse uses such as: technical textiles, padding and insulation, hygienic, medical and sanitary, geotextiles, recycling.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
B.E & M.N: On the machinery side, innovations focus on electromechanical innovation, communications between machines and data analysis systems, and human-machine interface. All aimed at improvement in terms of production and quality with a focus on energy efficiency.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
B.E & M.N: Bonino production range includes: preparatory machines (bale openers, openers, blending boxes,..), carding machines (designed according to the type of fibre to be processed), cross lappers and drafters. In the nonwoven field the company produces also aerodynamic cards: the perfect match between space and productivity.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
B.E & M.N: We are currently dealing with a market that is increasingly sensitive to environmental policies. The trend is to move more and more towards sustainable production that implies minimal environmental impact. The fact of collaborating with companies increasingly attentive to these issues spurs us to research and develop innovative solutions that meet market demand.
We are also convinced that the use of 4.0 technology in relation to these needs can make a significant contribution to the results achieved.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
B.E & M.N: The general trend, especially in the world of nonwovens, is the growing quest to make production processes more sustainable. In particular, there is a tendency to use new fibers of natural origin to replace some synthetic fibers with a high environmental impact. There is also a generalized effort to recycle production waste, and post-consumer waste in all sectors.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
B.E & M.N: As mentioned above, we are witnessing important innovations in the field of acoustic and thermal insulation through the use of recycled products and natural fibers, but also the release on the market of hygienic and sanitary products always made from fibers of natural origin (hemp, seaweed, jute)
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
B.E & M.N: After the pandemic we are seeing a sudden return to pre-2019 levels with requests from all over the world. We are working to improve and expand our business and our human capital structure with the expectation and hope to perform better and better not only in 2023, which is off to the best possible start, but also in the years to come.
Despite this, there are still issues related to transportation costs and supplies of some components from the market; a tailspin of Covid-19 amplified by the recent crisis in Ukraine
