Interview with Bart Ossenblok, Sales & Marketing at Pure Water Group.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Bart Ossenblok: Electro Deionization (EDI), Membrane Degassing (MD) and Electro Dialysis Reversal (EDR) based equipment and modules are distributed throughout the world and implemented in key process water purification applications. EDI and MD equipment for High Purity and Ultrapure Water is manufactured for the thermal power-, hydrogen production-, the semiconductor-, the pharmaceutical industry and for hemodialysis. And EDR equipment is manufactured for the treatment and recovery of challenging water streams in various industrial applications.

What’s the news about new products/services?

B.O: As a globally renowned and leading manufacturer of advanced and sustainable water purification equipment Pure Water Group have been serving the Power Generation, Micro-electronics and Pharmaceutical Industries for more than 25 years. A promising emerging application today is hydrogen production, as hydrogen is seen as an essential element in accelerating the energy transition worldwide!

The production of hydrogen requires Ultrapure water, which is completely free of salts and has very low conductivity. Ultrapure water is essential for hydrogen production to ensure the efficiency and longevity of the electrolysers. As specialist in EDI for Ultrapure Water production, Pure Water Group has unparalleled experience in the design, manufacture and support for high-capacity systems that will be required for the scale up of Hydrogen projects.

What are the ranges of products/services?

B.O: Pure Water Group cooperates globally with water system integrators who fully rely on our expertise, extensive experience and dedicated support. Among others, as Master Service provider for Evoqua/Ionpure, we offer the following services to OEM’s and water system integrators worldwide:

  • Pre-engineered fully FAT tested EDI systems for rapid trouble free start up.
  • Stock of EDI components (modules & power) direct from our European warehouse
  • Innovative cost saving power solutions for EDI modules.
  • Dedicated engineering team to provide support for engineering designs, commercial proposals, troubleshooting & site assistance.

What can you tell us about market trends?

B.O: Pure Water Group operates in diverse markets, each with unique aspects and requirements. Our commitment is to continually advance our technologies and solutions, prioritizing superior customer focus and service, while upholding our core values of quality, innovation, and sustainability.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

B.O: In addition to the advanced and sustainable water purification equipment supplied worldwide over the past 25 years, Pure Water Group has recently launched several pilot plant projects based on newly developed innovative electro membrane process units. These units represent a significant advancement in water treatment technology, capable of treating challenging water flows and facilitating the recovery of water for reuse and extracting other valuable nutrients. We believe this will expand the scope and market reach of water treatment solutions.

Examples of applications already piloted include:

  • Recovery of NH3 from spent scrubber liquid: This involves regenerating the acid scrubber liquid and producing NH3 in a pure water solution, rendering it in a valuable form.
  • Desalination of treated industrial effluent: By desalinating treated industrial effluent, it becomes suitable for reuse as process-feed-water, promoting sustainable water usage.
  • Recovery of scrubber liquids in CO2 capture: This process involves regenerating the scrubber liquid and producing pure CO2 gas, which can be further utilized or stored, contributing to environmental sustainability.

Each of these pilots shows significant potential for further implementation and scaling up and can play a crucial role in contributing to a circular economy and the energy transition.

What estimations do you have for 2024 and further future?
