Beveltools is world’s only manufacturer of the Bevel Mate® and Bevel Mite® bevel / rounding solutions. The company’s expert team relentlessly pursues better ways to simplify and refine metal beveling, aiming for impeccable results with minimal resources and time.
Interview with Patrick van Meerwijk, Marketeer at Beveltools.
Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.
Patrick van Meerwijk: In 2013, a partnership between American and Korean investors introduced a game-changing cutter, revolutionizing metal beveling. Recognizing its potential, Dutch entrepreneur Jan Enno Hofman decided to bring this innovation to the world. He acquired the patent on the cutters, eventually making Beveltools the only company that can create these cutters.
In 2015, Beveltools was founded, and we took our first cautious steps in the market of beveling and rounding metal edges. After a few years of expanding our catalogue, we realized it was very important to take a critical look at all our solutions which we supply and see where we needed to make improvements. This resulted in the launch of the 3.0 series of products, our current main-line bevel tooling solutions.
The company is located in Velp, the Netherlands and also has a branch in America. The current team of specialists is continuously working on developing new solutions in the field of metal edge forming.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Patrick van Meerwijk: At Beveltools, our primary focus lies (shockingly) in the development of advanced beveling tools. Within the metal industry, beveling plays an important role in the production process. This involves, amongst others, the removal of sharp edges, deburring, and preparing metal pieces for welding. Traditionally, this process has been time-consuming and can bring with it complications like Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). This industry disease can occur to workers that use vibrating machines. Therefore, Beveltools is committed to providing solutions that are not only efficient and effective, but also prioritize safety — the Beveltool solutions prevent HAVS by almost completely eliminating vibrations. Recognizing the diverse needs within the metalworking sector, we continuously expand our range of offerings, designing specialized tools and attachments to meet these needs.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
P.v.M: While our handheld products have been our flagship offerings, we’ve recently introduced table models to the market. These innovative machines are designed with user convenience in mind, particularly beneficial for projects involving numerous small workpieces. Currently, one of the new products we are developing is a solution used for pipes.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
P.v.M: Beveltools offers an array of machines, including pneumatic, electric, small handheld, large handheld, and table variants. Our extensive catalogue of cutters is divided between radius cutters and bevel cutters, available in many sizes and angles to suit diverse needs. Customers can also select tools that work best on steel, aluminium, or stainless steel.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
P.v.M: In the metalworking industry, beveling solutions are a common feature in the catalogues of major tooling providers. While many companies offer insert-based solutions, Beveltools distinguishes itself by offering a superior alternative. Our innovative cutters outshine traditional inserts, providing faster, safer, and more efficient results.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
P.v.M: The metalworking industry is ever evolving, and several trends are shaping the way businesses operate and which tools they employ. As patent holders in this specialized cutter niche, Beveltools is well-positioned to capitalize on these trends and come up with innovative solutions in this changing industry.
As manufacturers increasingly adopt technologies such as CNC machining and robotic systems, there is a growing demand for precision tools that can seamlessly integrate into automated workflows. We have been looking into the development of solutions that align with this trend.
The metalworking industry is a globalized industry, with companies expanding their operations into new markets and regions. Beveltools’ global presence, with dealers in key locations worldwide, enables us to effectively serve customers across different geographical regions.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
P.v.M: When it comes to innovation, Beveltools’ main product, the cutters, stands out as truly unique. The geometry of these cutters sets them apart, enabling them to effortlessly slice through metal in a sort of scooping motion. Unlike traditional methods that often result in jagged edges and rough finishes, our cutters deliver clean and precise results, even on laser or plasma cut edges.
Another innovative solution are the Beveltools machines an cutters that are specifically designed for stainless steel. This offering fills a crucial gap in the market, providing customers with a much-needed option for achieving high-quality bevels on stainless steel surfaces.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2024?
P.v.M: Beveltools has undergone a period of rapid growth, and we are showing no signs of slowing down. In response to this growth trajectory, we are expanding our offices and bolstering our team with new hires. We continue to increase our dealer network, bringing our beveling solutions to all parts of the world.
