Founded in 1989 and based in Germany, esitron-electronic is a successful manufacturer of servo motor drive technology and automation tools, including power electronics, controls and displays, for the automation of industry production and special machines.
Interview with Saurabh Basu & Dennis Raiser, Managing Directors at esitron-electronic GmbH.
Who is esitron-electronic and what do you produce?
Saurabh Basu & Dennis Raiser: Our strength is to develop specific solutions to meet the most challenging demands of industrial manufacturing. We have built long-lasting relationships with our customers based on mutual trust and a laser-focus on quality. Qualified advice is our top priority!
In addition to our main product range, decentral servo motors with integrated electronics, we also offer individual and optimal customization of our devices to meet customer-specific requirements.
What are your products used for?
S.B & D.R: With our drive and control technology for mechanical and plant engineering we move people, machines, technology and industries.
esitron manufactures solutions for motion and positioning applications. We offer adaptive power electronics according to customer needs up to an automation system, consisting of a programmable controller panel, servo drives with integrated servo controllers.
Our decentralized servo drives have a wide range of applications in many branches of industry. We have customers who use our drives to position press brakes for white goods. Others move welding drives, safety doors, roll meatballs or saw profiles for window construction. One customer moves antennas for satellite communication, another one cameras for sports and show events. The possible applications are virtually unlimited. If none of our standard solutions fits, we also develop customized variants; Both in terms of software and hardware. Quite important to know: our units are available with the fieldbus interfaces EtherCAT, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus and CANopen.
Do you have an example for us?
S.B & D.R: Of course! Let us present the latest prototype of our largest decentralized servo motor of our esiMot series: a saw drive with customized mounting flange.
This decentralized servo motor, the esiMot SL, has just come fresh from esitron production. The drive is equipped with an EtherCAT interface; other fieldbuses are easily possible. The heat sink is not yet anodized; this will of course be the case in series production. The key performance data: Rated power of the esiMot SL: 3.1 – 4.4 kW, rated torque: 10 – 20 Nm, motor supply: 400 V AC, protection class: IP 65.
The motor is intended for a customer in the mechanical engineering sector for machining aluminum, plastic and steel profiles.
So, you customize according to the needs and requirements of the designers and mechanical engineers?
S.B & D.R: Exactly! Offering individual solutions instead of from a standard portfolio, that was and remains the credo of esitron-electronic GmbH. Our extent of work begins with application specific consultation with the customer, design, and dimensioning of the scope of the order, followed by a thorough examination of the customer concept, in which we contribute our expertise if desired. We often send test devices to customers to give them the possibility of testing our products within their applications without committing to a purchase. This approach has proved extremely useful in building customer trust and showcasing esitron’s customer centric approach. In most cases, this test device remains at its new site of operation.
Do you have some other references and applications for us?
S.B & D.R: Sure, esitron drive technology you will find in industrial applications in a wide range of sectors – from the food and pharmaceutical industry, packaging, construction and load machines, the textile industry and wood processing to automotive suppliers. Our products have been tried and tested over many years and are successful on the market. References & Applications – esitron.
Let’s come to references. We have a long-standing partnership with the Wemhöner Holding GmbH, an innovative and worldwide leading supplier of 3D presses for mechanical and plant engineering. So, here our decentralized servo motors are in operation within the woodworking industry.
Another application of the esitron servo drives is for membrane production. In detail, ALPHA PLAN, a company that stands for excellence in filter technology, uses servo motors from esitron to drive high-precision cutting systems to produce ultra-thin membranes in the alphaCUT area, among others.
To finish with some entertainment: Also at the Oscars you can find an esitron application. Quite constantly, the camera system “Towercam XS++” of MAT Technology GmbH with our esiMot XL servo drive mounted is filming directly in front of the huge stage to broadcast the spectacle in the Dolby Theatre, LA.

And last but not least, inside an exceptional museum in Northern Germany, at the “Universum Bremen”, it is possible to experience nature in a special way – on the earthquake sofa. It is put into movement through the esitron MP100 control unit. What a range of products and applications! What is your focus for the future?
S.B & D.R: According to our claim “your idea – our solution” we aim to implement automation tasks consistently and successfully. So, the range of our portfolio extends to six areas: Servo Motion Control, Signal Converters, Cam Controllers, Cabinet Motion Controllers, Digital Displays, and Automation Solutions.
We rely on innovation and the highest quality in our products, as well as on our creative and qualified employees, who design, develop, and implement the optimum solutions for our customers – in terms of accuracy, durability, efficiency, and handling.
In detail, we are constantly extending the esiMot product series (decentralized servo motors). We offer different motor sizes and provide matching motion controllers – suitable to the machine and its application. Our servo motion controllers can be mounted in different positions on the selected servo motor for perfect fitting.
Furthermore, esitron can present several performance improvements, including the aspects of quality management, protection, long-life cycle, and additional connectivity options.
