Kiverco has been designing, manufacturing and installing waste processing plants for almost 30 years. The company is renowned for the quality, performance and reliability of each system. As well as providing their own range of robust products, they also integrate world-class partner technologies such as waste screens, optical sorters, and large drum separators into their waste systems. In summary, Kiverco provides a complete turnkey waste processing solution for the customers across the world.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
KIVERCO: We provide solutions to process waste for diverse waste streams including, Construction & Demolition (C&D); Commercial & Industrial (C&I); Municipal Solid Waste (MSW); Energy from Waste (EfW); Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA); Dry Mixed Recyclables (DMR); RDF/SRF; and compost. Our processing plants guarantee the highest purity levels possible from each recovered product thus enabling greater reuse and recycling rates and maximise the volume of waste diverted from landfills.
E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
KIVERCO: We are delighted to announce a new series of waste recycling plants that are sure to prove popular with all waste companies. The ‘Ks series’ is a simple yet highly effective range of waste recovery plants that come in modules and can recover up to 14 products. The system can be used to process a variety of waste types including C&D waste, C&I waste, DMR waste, and MSW.
The plant comes with a whole range of options, including a trommel screen or waste screen to remove the fines fraction; an air separation unit to remove light waste; a magnet to remove ferrous metals; and a choice of 2, 3, or 4 bay sorting station to recover desired recyclables.
The new offering is ‘patent-pending’ as the entire plant (2 bay trommel model) is designed on a single skid frame chassis – a first of its kind globally. The unit is easily loaded onto a trailer, transported to a site, driven into position, and then off-loaded using a simple hydraulic jacking leg system. The plant is so simple to install that it can be delivered, off-loaded, commissioned, and operational within a few hours. The plant can be powered by mains electricity or generator power depending on the customer’s preference.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/markets?
KIVERCO: We provide large, medium and small static waste systems, modular equipment/systems and a range of ‘mobile’ products. Our solutions are utilised across the world from the Middle East to North America and across Europe and Australasia – with more than 300 installations in the UK alone.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
KIVERCO: This is a very exciting time for the recycling industry and for Kiverco as recycling is being encouraged in more countries than ever before. We have dominated the waste sector in the UK for many years and, in more recent years, we have been providing our technology and expertise to new markets across the world. Our footprint continues to grow and we have enjoyed recent success in Europe, the UAE, South America and Australia.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends / what are the most innovative products marketed?
KIVERCO: Reduced landfill space, increasing landfill taxes, excessive mining of natural resources and the deterioration in the health of our planet, governments around the world are encouraging much higher levels of recycling activity in order to create a more sustainable future. There is definitely a ‘landfill diversion’ trend in most developed nations and the developing world is starting to talk about and look at how they handle waste.
At Kiverco, we definitely see a shift towards automation. Technology is improving and the overall investment cost is coming down. Companies want more reliability, greater throughput levels and higher purity levels in the recovered product. We are very comfortable guaranteeing throughput and output requirements which is why more and more customers are coming to us to provide the right solution.
Finally, modular solutions are increasing in popularity as they are easily and quickly installed and are therefore operational much quicker. For many companies a modular solution is seen as a smart investment as these systems have a higher resale value and are more attractive for finance companies to lend money against. Modular systems have a smaller footprint than static solutions and are very flexible as additional sorting stations may be added as the business grows and the need for more recovered products becomes apparent.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
KIVERCO: As the world slowly returns to normal and the recycling industry continues to grow, we estimate greater volumes of waste being processed and higher levels of recyclable products being reused/recycled. We are really excited for the remainder of the year and are already witnessing increased demand from existing and new markets.
