Olmatic GmbH is a Start-Up from southern Germany, which was founded in 2016 by three brothers. The revolutionary solution focuses primarily on the topic of peak load balancing, in which peak loads are predicted in advance and compensated using a worldwide patented method and intelligent use of regenerative energy sources, such as solar and battery systems. The processes of an industrial company are never affected. In addition to a significant cost reduction, the company is also making a direct contribution to a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions.
Interview with Christian Olma, Marketing & Communications at Olmatic GmbH.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Christian Olma: We focus on our main target markets in the pure B2B business and offer solutions for predictive maintenance for the manufacturing industry, for plant operators and for charging infrastructure applications.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
C.O: We are currently receiving an increasing number of inquiries from plant operators who are setting up large solar or battery parks. With this system you know when you will need how much electricity in advance, or when you will generate how much surplus. Your electricity is controlled, sold, or stored fully automatically so that the electricity you generate yourself can be used highly efficiently. It couldn’t be more economical!
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
C.O: We offer a uniform solution that integrates hardware and software products. If the customer already has an energy management system, we dock onto it and offer added value. If the customer doesn’t have anything in this direction yet, we equip it with our self-developed sensors and a control unit. However, the customer only pays when we can save electricity costs. In the positive case, we get a certain percentage of the savings.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
C.O: The market we supply is growing steadily. We see this trend not only in Germany, but also in the global environment. Driven by political orientation, industry can do its part to improve the environment.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
C.O: In Germany we see that around 75% of the electricity costs for industrial companies are caused by load peaks which are expensive. The IEMS market increased by 19.5% in 2021. In this respect, a lot will happen in the coming years when it comes to efficiently balancing out peak loads without having to change processes in the company.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
C.O: In the area of peak load balancing, I would be lying if I didn’t refer to our solution. Compared to the competition, we have a considerable lead and can identify expensive peak loads several days in advance.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
C.O: This year we will implement some interesting projects and we are already looking forward to them. In addition, an important hurdle awaits us while building up the company, because we must fill a few new positions. That’s why we’re looking around the world for pioneers in the energy sector.
