Miviso is a team of CAD and BIM specialists, built out of pure excitement for creating and deliveringhigh-quality, custom-fit 3D Models for planning and operating buildings.
Interview with Michael Danklmaier, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Miviso GmbH.
Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.
Michael Danklmaier: In 2017, Philip Willner and I founded Miviso during our architectural studies at TU Innsbruck. We specialize in providing cutting-edge BIM services and 3D modeling solutions. Our focus is on creating BIM building models for planning and building operations, providing building owners and planners with the essential foundation for high-quality planning and efficient building management. We currently employ 23 people in Innsbruck and Moldova. Our team and team spirit are essential for completing successful projects and building trustworthy partnerships. Regular team events and internal company benefits strengthen collaboration and mutual appreciation.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
M.D: Miviso excels in BIM and 3D modeling of existing buildings using advanced CAD software. Leveraging point cloud data from laser scans, typically conducted by surveying engineers, we craft realistic 3D models. These models are used for renovation and refurbishment planning, as well as for implementing Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
M.D: As the building digitization market is currently growing rapidly, we are concentrating on improving our core business, point cloud modeling, and BIM. The demand for high-quality and high-precision Scan-to-BIM solutions is far from being met, which is why we will be focusing on this in the near future, to provide outstanding services to our partners.
We are continually exploring new solutions, such as AI tools, to improve the quality and speed of our service. The digitalization of the construction industry is increasing, leading to a growing demand for digital building twins. We are always on the lookout for new technologies to integrate into our workflow, ensuring that we stay ahead of industry trends.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
M.D:
- Scan to BIM/CAD: By converting point clouds into 3D (BIM) models, we fully utilize the capabilities of modern building surveying through 3D laser scanning. Our efficient evaluation process allows us to create accurate ‘As-Built’ models that maximize this technology.
- 3D BIM Models: We create 3D BIM models with the necessary level of detail based on existing plans and information. These models are used for construction project planning, bidding, and management during the construction phase.
- BIM for Facility Management: The BIM model, when integrated into CAFM software for facility management, offers real-time, on-demand detailed information about the building and its systems, optimizing and improving facility management processes.
Recent Projects:
- A 3D model for an architectural competition renewal project covering 19,000 m² GFA, made in ArchiCAD.
- Various buildings for a Swiss municipality’s CAFM implementation, including the art and culture building spanning 15,200 m² GFA, designed in Revit.
- A listed clinic transformed into a modern healthcare facility covering 18,900 m² GFA, crafted in ArchiCAD.

E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
M.D: With the construction industry undergoing a significant digital transformation, there’s a burgeoning demand for digital building twins. This shift is positioning Miviso for substantial growth and expansion in the coming years. By focusing exclusively on modeling, we offer reliable delivery times and constant availability at predictable prices, ensuring high-quality services that are both time- and cost-effective.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
M.D: We expect significant growth as digitalization continues to reshape the planning and construction landscape. The use of digital tools and BIM services can significantly improve the efficiency of the industry and minimize cost-intensive errors. It is very important to implement a few and good processes and tools in order to actually improve the already complex data and communication management.
The extreme rise in construction costs is increasing the demand for good and efficient 3D modeling solutions in order to implement a central data and communication tool. We remain at the forefront of these industry trends.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
M.D: Our commitment to innovation sets us apart. We focus on delivering cutting-edge BIM solutions and 3D modeling services tailored to our clients’ needs. By exploring AI tools and other technological advancements, we continually enhance our service quality and efficiency.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2024?
M.D: With a solid foundation, we expect the industry and our company to continue to grow and we want to continue to shape our leading role in the field of digital construction twins.
We expect a significant increase in customers and projects and are always looking for committed like-minded people who want to join us on this journey and shape it. We look forward to a future in which digital building twins are no longer the exception, but the standard.
