Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.
Judith von Ameln: At Ormazabal, more than 2,400 employees in over 50 countries ensure safe energy distribution with high-quality products and services. In response to the urgent challenge of decarbonising the economy, we intend to lead the technological development of power grids to enable the energy transition. Ormazabal is part of Velatia, family-owned and headquartered in Zamudio, Spain. The headquarters of Ormazabal Germany in Krefeld is also the headquarters of the Central Europe region. With local know-how and global experience, Ormazabal in Germany offers forward-looking solutions for all aspects of energy distribution. As a project partner for energy suppliers, planners and installers, among others, we respond flexibly and pragmatically to individual customer requests and support projects from planning to commissioning and maintenance.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
J.v.A: Ormazabal designs and manufactures solutions aimed at digitalizing the electrical grid to integrate more renewable energy generation, enable more sustainable mobility and guarantee the power supply to buildings and infrastructures with critical energy needs. Ormazabal products and solutions are used, for example, in the areas of green mobility, green generation and storage, smart grids and infrastructure such as hospitals, airports, railway stations and football stadiums or for industrial applications like in the plastics and automotive industry.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
J.v.A: As expert for energy distribution, we recently presented our SF6-free technology for public distribution grids up to 24 kV, developed on the basis of years of research and subsequent validation with key players in the electricity market. With the market launch, Ormazabal marks another milestone on the way to decarbonising the electricity grids.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
J.v.A: Ormazabal offers solutions for the primary and secondary distribution level. The portfolio includes medium-voltage switchgear, transformers and transformer stations as well as individual station solutions. We complete our product range with solutions for protection and automation such as control and measurement units.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
J.v.A: The energy transition we are experiencing in Europe is a challenge for the power grid, the backbone of our electrical system. For its part, as an expert in customised high-tech electrical solutions, Ormazabal is contributing to decarbonisation by developing and manufacturing products such as SF6-free technologies that make the power grid more efficient and sustainable through clean energy and efficient processes, thus minimising the carbon footprint.
