Wenzel Elektronik has been established in 1946. With more than 77 years of experience in the development of safety-relevant communication technology in the fields of public address and operation telecommunications, the company looks back on an eventful and successful past. Today Wenzel Elektronik is still appreciated as an innovative and reliable partner worldwide.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
We do have two Corporate Divisions:
Public Transport – Communication technology for Railways and Public Transport companies and Building Services Engineering – Systems for voice alarm, public address and intercom for the public, commercial and industrial sectors.
We develop and manufacture products, plan and integrate them into a complete solution and support with migration concepts, tests and acceptances.
Our experts with many years of experience support the planning work and help to find the ideal solution for our customers. Our products are characterized by the highest level of security, interoperability and availability and are easy to integrate.
What’s the news about new products?
Migration of legacy communication systems
Technology to support a seamless, step-by-step migration to IP.
Existing based legacy communication systems (e.g. MACS, MPWL etc.) can be migrated to the new VoIPv3 technology while maintaining availability and without costly, error-prone parallel operation.
After the migration is complete, the legacy switching systems are decommissioned.
Control Center Workstations and central IT
We offer three types of highly integrated, compact Control Center Workstations with configurable user interfaces, which can be adapted to customers’ requirements and combine all communication means on one workstation, thus standardize operating activities.
Our scalable, fail-safe server solutions ensure reliable call connections.
We support both geo-redundancy and hierarchical systems.
PAGA (Public Address General Alarm) Systems as part of comprehensive passenger information
To improve their service, railway companies are increasingly using dynamic, fully automated passenger information systems (e.g. FIA, AURIS, SAPI etc.). These systems demand particularly high speech intelligibility under difficult acoustic conditions. Our PAGA solutions meet all the extensive requirements for announcements on platforms and stations. Each PAGA solution can be adapted to the respective application and integrates seamlessly and interoperably with our intercom systems. They are certified according to EN-54-16 as voice alarm systems.
VoIP Devices
Terminals for intercom systems, emergency calls and telephony via the IP network.
Railroad, mass transit and airport operators, water and shipping authorities, and industrial companies with intensive in-house communications benefit from the seamless integration of individual indoor and outdoor components into our VoIPv3 platform. We offer various call stations: with buttons, with touch panel, VoIP outdoor call stations with vandal-proof operating buttons, firefighters call station, customer-specific VoIP emergency call stations with a wide range of mounting options up to high quality standard SIP desk phones.
E.E: What are the ranges of services?
We can support you with:
- the creation of requirement specifications
- individual offers including system description
- design and test specification for individual concepts
- coordinated project planning and management of our systems
- tailored solutions to the operational needs of railway companies, public transport and building engineering services
Acoustic Simulations
Before the installation of a PA-system, it is important to study the acoustic characteristics of the different zones. This makes it possible to determine which type of solution is more appropriate to the needs and environment in order to ensure good predictions e.g. about the level and speech intelligibility (STI) in the different zones before installation. We can support you with this service.
Trainings
We offer train-the-trainer workshops in our plant near Hamburg:
- for Installation
- for technicians
- for operators
- for admins
- for configuration of the PA-System
- a remote support is also possible.
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
Before any delivery on site, we can realize a Factory Acceptance Test to check every point of the system. This FAT is realized with the customer and the issue is completed with a FAT record.
Site Acceptance Test (SAT) – Commissioning
We offer Site Acceptance Test/Commissioning once the system is installed on site. This is made with the customer.
Maintenance contracts
Offering maintenance contracts ensures our company’s commitment to deliver quality, reliability, and exceptional service to our clients.
E.E: What is the stage of the market where you are currently active?
We have already equipped half of Germany with PAGA technology. In Germany, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is our biggest customer. In local public transport, we were in the recent contract awarded by Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) to renew the public address systems at 200 stations that transport over 400 million passengers a year. This is the largest public transport contract we have been awarded so far in 2023 and is a testament to the great commitment and hard work of Wenzel Elektronik. We are now increasingly focusing on developing our international business.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
In our business, every project is different and so we must adapt to different customer requirements, even worldwide. This is another of Wenzel Elektronik’s strengths, as we have HW, SW and FW developers under one roof and can therefore respond flexibly to requests for customized PA-solutions.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
Our PAGA (Public Address General Alarm) System called ELISA-III is currently our most innovative product. It is an IP-based “All-in-one-device” with 4x150W = total 600 W amplifiers, flexible to use and ultra-compact (only (1U). It has an integrated backup amplifier concept at highest level of safety and reliability. It makes the planning work of PA-situations much easier and helps to save time and costs, not only in terms of numbers of devices needed, but also in the Standby-Power-consumption in monitoring use <25W, which allows you the use of smaller batteries to keep voice alarms powered for at least 30 minutes, even if the main power supply fails.
As this product has been so successful, we are already developing a successor model that will be even more powerful, more flexible and more cost efficient.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2024?
We can look back on an exciting and successful 2023 and are full of drive to tackle new projects and challenges in 2024. One of our goals for 2024 is to expand into new markets, in particular to drive forward our international business, where we have only realized a few projects in the past and will now expand our presence. In addition, we will continue to work on the development of our Public Address System successor model “ELISA IV”, which will have additional new features and will be even more powerful, flexible and cost-effective.
We look forward to a strategic and trusting co-operation with our existing and new partners and customers, without whom this would not be possible! We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish in the year ahead.
