Founded in 2019, Inbalance is an innovator of EV charging infrastructure solutions. The company develops, manufactures, and operates smart electric car charging stations and is a charging network operator. Their solution focuses on the optimization of electricity consumption and helps meet the growing demand for electric vehicle charging without the need to change the existing power grid infrastructure.
Easy Engineering: What’s the news about new products?
INBALANCE: We offer cloud-based multi-level dynamic load management solution. In general, it means that we can build more charging stations with less dedicated power and ensure that the power resources available in real-time are used to maximum efficiency. This is a crucial feature since EV charging demand is growing at a rate that exceeds the capabilities of electric grids, making additional power reservations either very expensive or even impossible in certain locations.
We have also been investing and performing a lot of R&D to optimize the maintenance of our charging infrastructure as much as possible. Coming from the space and aviation industries, our co-founders, engineers, and software developers have experience with devices that are just impossible or too expensive to repair once they are up and running. Having mass adoption and scale in mind, we have been adopting such a mindset in our product as well. Inbalance charging stations are packed with sensors, therefore, we can perform 24/7 monitoring, predictive maintenance, and fault prevention. Meaning that we can spot possible failures before they happen and take measures to prevent. If they do happen, our remote management systems allow for us to know which part is down before the repair team is there. This allows to have us the highest uptime in the market.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
INBALANCE: We currently offer one product – Inbalance charging station. We are a charging service provider and differentiate our offering by working under different business models which allow for lower capital expenses from the client’s side.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
INBALANCE: We believe that the market is on the very beginning or the verge of the S-curve. There will be an exponential growth of EVs in the next 5-10 years, thus an equal demand of charging stations and infrastructure.
All the players in the industry are constantly innovating and looking for ways to ensure the best user experience for the EV drivers as well as ways to solve challenges such as grid limitations, network integrations, scalability, etc.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
INBALANCE: The market is moving rapidly, new innovations and trends are emerging every day. It still has a lot of questions to be answered and the balance between political regulation and business initiative is still ambiguous.
So, the main trend is the uncertainty. Everyone is still looking for the best approach to customer experience, payments, grid balancing, installation procedures, metering, etc. However, it is clear that with ever-growing number of EVs, the market has to look for mass-adoption-oriented solutions. In terms of installation & future scale, maintenance, grid capacity, we must think not about 3-4 charging stations per location, but tens and hundreds. We at „Inbalance” are constantly working to implement this approach to our hardware and software solutions.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
INBALANCE: Investments raised in 2021 will enable us to install thousands of new EV charging stations and become the largest EV charging network in the region. The money raised will be directed towards our main goal of becoming the largest operator of EV charging stations in the Baltic States and Poland.
We will continue working and innovating on our hardware and software as well in order to enhance customer experience using the Inbalance charging infrastructure and provide more remote management and monitoring features. We are also continuously enhancing our dynamic load management solution – meaning that it is possible to balance the available power not only between the charging points, but also within the building systems and even on a grid level. We are currently working on a pilot project with national grid operator to use Inbalance charging infrastructure for grid balancing during peak times and it should go live in 2022.
