AMPLITUDE, THE SPECIALIST IN FEMTOSECOND LASERS

Amplitude, a French company founded in 2001, designs and manufactures ultrafast lasers for texturing, cutting, drilling, and more.

These lasers are designed for the industrial, science & research, and medical markets.

Today, Amplitude in a few figures:

Our femtosecond lasers meet the needs of our customers:

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

A.B.M: From the outset, our lasers have been used for micro-machining, and today we offer lasers with higher average powers, enabling us to extend the range of possible macro-machining applications. For example: mold texturing car dashboards in 2 hours (previously several months for 3m²), reproducing the texturing of a bird’s wing so that aircraft have fewer air intakes and thus reduce fuel consumption, laser stripping for metallurgy, etc.

Our femtosecond lasers have gone from 1W in 2007 to KW today, enabling manufacturers and scientists to go even further.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

A.B.M: We design and market femtosecond, picosecond, and nanosecond lasers.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

A.B.M: This is a mature market with applications such as ophthalmic surgery, machine tools and the mass production of OLED flat screens.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

A.B.M: Today, this market is growing thanks to the continued penetration of ultrashort lasers in new industrial applications.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

A.B.M: Tangor 300 is the latest laser launched by Amplitude, providing aerospace and automotive manufacturers with sufficient medium power to texture large surfaces at micrometric scale. It can be used to create riblets on aeronautical parts to reduce air friction on certain aircraft components.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

A.B.M: We forecast growth of 15%.
