INTERVIEW WITH DEEP CARE

Deep Care is an award-winning high-tech start-up based in Ludwigsburg and was founded in 2020. The company combines the possibilities of artificial intelligence, privacy-compliant sensor technology and the latest findings in behavioural research with low-threshold health applications in the workplace.

The first product is ISA, a digital health coach that accompanies people with a desk job in their everyday working life with individual health-promoting impulses (nudges) and helps them to develop healthy habits. Through ISA, Deep Care pursues the vision of sustainably improving health at the workplace by providing office workers with low-threshold access to a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this, they work together with health insurance companies and the company health management of large corporations, who provide ISA free of charge to the users as partners and customers.

Interview with Frederik Blohm, Business Development at Deep Care.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Frederik Blohm: Deep Care combines the findings of behavioural research, privacy-compliant sensor technology and artificial intelligence and transfers them to health applications for the workplace. The core of this company is research-based product development, which is primarily concerned with software development and robotics on the basis of health and behavioural sciences. In addition, Deep Care distributes its health applications via various acquisition models such as leasing, renting and selling either directly to users and companies or indirectly via health insurance companies and health service providers.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

F.B: The digital health coach ISA is the only product of Deep Care GmbH to date and was launched on the market in 2022. Since then, Deep Care has received awards for this from various institutions and was awarded the “Top Brand Corporate Health” quality seal by EUPD Research in 2022. ISA is a plug-and-play device for the desk that uses data protection-compliant sensor technology to analyse sitting and movement patterns at the desk and evaluates them using a deep learning algorithm. In real time, users receive feedback on their health behaviour, their state of health and individual tips on how to optimise their own behaviour, e.g. through targeted movement exercises, posture corrections or much more.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

F.B: ISA is the only product so far, but there are different usage models for different user groups.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

F.B: The market for prevention services and workplace health promotion is a steadily growing market both in terms of demand and supply. In Germany, forecasts indicate increasing growth for the next few years.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

F.B: In the area of workplace health promotion and prevention, digital products and services that are decentralized, low-threshold and easy to use are becoming increasingly important. In addition to physical complaints and illnesses caused by poor ergonomics and lack of exercise, mental health is increasingly in focus.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

F.B: In addition to our digital health coach, there are numerous health apps and wearables, but so far they have not been able to establish themselves on the market in the long term. These digital applications are easy and flexible to use, but usually do not achieve any health or behavioural changes because they are not used sustainably in everyday life and can only collect health data superficially.
