ACENTECH, ELEVATING SPACES

Acentech provides acoustics, noise and vibration control, as well as technology design consulting to clients across the globe. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and with offices in Pennsylvania, California and Virginia, their multi-disciplinary practice brings extensive experience to critical areas of design and problem resolution.

The company’s main goal is to enhance human comfort, communication, artistic expression, and technical function through design and innovation in acoustics, engineering, and technology.

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Acentech’s core areas of activity revolve around consulting for architects, engineering firms and facility end-users in a variety of markets: performing arts, corporate commercial such as office spaces, K-12 schools and higher education, healthcare, life science buildings and sensitive facilities, as well as transportation and the booming energy market.

What’s the news about new products/services?

One of the fascinating aspects of current building design is the industry’s focus on “human centered design”. This means that designs start from acknowledging that a building is experienced through all senses, and then by addressing the future ocupants’ well being, health and productivity. Needless to say that acoustics is at the very center of this approach. Our technology services, including audiovisual systems design, but not only, complement very well this trend.

What are the ranges of products/services?

Acentech offers a variety of services, all intended to improve the human experience in the built environment, including architectural acoustics and building systems noise control, 3DListening acoustic simulation, and a range of technology design services including audiovisual systems, telecommunication, physical security systems, and smart buildings.

We also specialize in large and small scale noise and vibration mitigation, from environmental conditions, such as renewable energy plants to sensitive medical equipment.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

We provide our services worldwide, and primarily in the United States. Given the range of services offered, we constantly see market differences and shifts from region to region. At any given time, certain types of buildings or projects may be more prevalent in one region versus another. For instance, there are regions where life science buildings thrive, while in other regions of the country the corporate commercial market, focused around the tech industry may be more prevalent. Community and arts institutions are of course more evenly spread.

What can you tell us about market trends?

We continue to support our building design projects, which are at the core of our work. Yet, we are also turning our attention to emerging markets such as noise control related renewable energy markets, data storage and the like.

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

We are leaders in the acoustics simulation and rendering technology field. Our trademark 3DListening® (3DL) service builds on state of the art modeling and auralization tools, developed both commercially and through years of internal research and innovation. This plays an important role in all our work. Using this technology we help develop designs, shape key spaces, sound isolating conditions as well as ambient noise, and give a unique opportunity to architects and end-users to listen to the acoustics of a space, before that space is built. It is a valuable tool not only toward imagining the future use of the space, but in making significant decisions that impact a project’s budget.

What estimations do you have for the rest of 2024?

We expect to keep expanding our national and global outreach through outstanding work in acoustics, noise and technology consulting. In the immediate future we are excited to launch a new web platform that will highlight our research and innovation work and that will be a great information and education tool to both our clients and everyone interested in acoustics and our related fields.
