Interview with Xavier Van Mierloo, CEO of GR Technics.
A brief description of the company and its activities.
Xavier Van Mierloo: GR Technics has been the reference for mobile lighting and CCTV towers for over 20 years. With the STALICO® brand, we offer mobile lighting and CCTV towers as well as mobile power systems across the globe. Our telescopic mast systems are equipped with lighting and can be fitted with cameras and surveillance systems to secure any type of construction site, parking lot, industrial site, event, etc. Often, there is a lack of infrastructure, or the site needs to be temporarily secured using our STALICO® systems. This is where our products truly demonstrate their potential.
The main clients are security providers, construction and rental companies who rent out the towers as their own business. The robust, vandalism proof towers are made in a way that they are easily transportable with standard trucks but also with custom trailers. They are unloaded by using standard forklifts, cranes or pallet trucks. The STALICO® towers are deployed by only one operator and it takes only 15 minutes to have a surveillance system up and running on a site without any infrastructure.
During 20 years a range of small energy solutions have been added to the STALICO® product line. Battery systems, hybrid generators, fuel cell systems are made suitable and robust enough to be able to resist the harsh environment of any construction site. These solutions can supply power 24/7 to the STALICO® lighting or CCTV tower systems.
What are the main areas of activity of the company?
X.V.M: Our mobile lighting towers are ideal for rental companies which rent out to construction sites. Safety and security are factors which are often underestimated or forgotten in a construction project. Light creates a safer environment for the workers and creates a deterrent for people with malicious intent. The STALICO® lighting towers have a long lifetime of at least 15 years outside usage which makes them a suited investment for any rental company.
The mobile CCTV towers are custom build, personalized and distinctively different for each client. The cameras, surveillance equipment, detection equipment, speaker, warning lights etc. are determined on the base of the application and the market for the clients.
What’s the news about new products/services?
X.V.M: The standard STALICO® mobile towers go up to a height of 5 – 9 meters high. These last years the STALICO® product line has been extended with smaller CCTV towers which have a smaller footprint making them easier to place in tight situations f.e. events. They are however lower in height going from 3 to 4 meters. New purposes and applications have arisen for the STALICO® towers: drone detection, surveillance with drones, communication purposes, anti-sabotage etc.
What are the ranges of products/services?
X.V.M: The standard towers go up to a height of 5 – 9 meters high. These last years the STALICO® product line has been extended with smaller CCTV towers which have a smaller footprint but are lower in height from 3 to 4 meters. The mobile energy solutions go from a simple battery pack to hybrid generators and fuel cell solutions. All of these systems are made for outside usage and resist the harsh conditions of construction sites and stand the test of time for minimal 15 years.
What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
X.V.M: Our main markets are Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. With 10.000 STALICO® mast systems deployed, GR Technics is expanding currently into France, UK and the USA. The mobile CCTV market is growing in these new markets and we are actively looking for local partners and distributors. The mobile CCTV towers are equipped with large commercial panels to display our clients logo and contact details to provide an ideal commercial vehicle to expand your business.
What can you tell us about market trends?
More and more CCTV tower systems are completely autonomous relying solely on solar energy but helped by a fuel cell system in winter times. This provides extreme flexibility for our rental clients since you can literally place these CCTV towers anywhere. Mobility and flexibility are key. The big advantage with STALICO® mobile CCTV towers is that relatively large surveillance systems with high end cameras can be placed at an altitude of 7 meters creating an large overview of the to be secured site.
What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
X.V.M: Mobile mast systems with drone detection are coming up and present high tech equipment: radiofrequency, radar, acoustic and visual detection.
What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2026?
X.V.M: The expectation is that our partners in France and UK will grow their rental fleet of towers maturing the market also in these countries. For the USA, our presence in ISC West has delivered the first partnerships and the first CCTV tower systems will come to US soil in the first half of the year.
