50 YEARS IN THE MAKING: HOW FIMER IS DRIVING THE GLOBAL ENERGY TRANSITION

FIMER, a brand owned by MA Solar Italy, is a leading manufacturer of renewable energy solutions. The company combines strong technological expertise with solid manufacturing capabilities to deliver comprehensive solutions across the photovoltaic value chain – from design and engineering to commissioning and after-sales services – supporting the global energy transition. With 2 production sites and 5 service and repair centers worldwide, FIMER ensures proximity to its customers and rapid response in an increasingly dynamic and demanding energy landscape.

In Romania, FIMER operates in close partnership with Simtel, a leading company in end-to-end renewable ecosystems. This collaboration has supported the implementation of numerous renewable energy and efficiency projects across key sectors of the Romanian market.

Ana Nedea, Director of Strategy & Business Development at Simtel, declared: “The relationship between Simtel and Fimer is built on mutual trust and a shared vision for a sustainable future. Our journey together began in 2012 as service partners in Romania, and by 2015, we expanded our collaboration to become service partners at a European level. A major milestone in our evolution is the year 2025, marked by the joint opening of our first service and monitoring call center dedicated to the Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, confirming our ability to provide support at international standards.”

What are the main areas of activity of the company?

FIMER operates across the full photovoltaic value chain, with a focus on the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of inverter solutions for residential, commercial & industrial, and utility-scale applications.

Core activities include in-house design and engineering, prototyping, industrialization, and large-scale manufacturing, supported by advanced SMT lines, testing, certification, and quality control systems. This integrated approach ensures high performance, reliability, and compliance with international standards.

FIMER also has strong expertise in revamping and repowering solutions for existing photovoltaic plants, enabling efficient upgrades of legacy systems without major structural modifications.

Ana Nedea adds: ”Our position relative to Fimer is multifaceted: we are authorized distributors, strategic service partners, and also clients who place full confidence in their technology. We have integrated Fimer equipment into our own assets, such as the Salonta PV Park (5.5 MW), as well as into numerous projects for our clients in the retail, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors. What we especially value in Fimer is their continuous investment in creating highly efficient post-sales support processes – a critical factor that allows us to guarantee long-term performance and reliability for every installation.”

What’s the news about new products/services?

FIMER, in collaboration with Simtel, contributes to the development of energy efficiency projects in Romania by providing advanced photovoltaic solutions aimed at improving sustainability, reducing energy costs, and increasing energy independence across multiple sectors. The partnership has supported a growing portfolio of projects in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with a total installed capacity exceeding 350 MW based on FIMER inverter technologies.

Key installations include the Salonta PV Project (5.5 MW), as well as smaller-scale plants such as Sibiu (170.5 kWp), Râmnicu Vâlcea County (170.52 kWp), and Iași (156.5 kWp), among others.

These projects leverage FIMER PVS-50/60-TL and PVS-100/120-TL inverter platforms, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability across different application sizes.

What are the ranges of products/services?

FIMER offers a comprehensive portfolio of solar inverter solutions covering residential, commercial & industrial, and utility-scale segments.

The product range includes both string and central inverter technologies, designed to deliver high efficiency, reliability, and seamless integration into modern energy systems. This portfolio supports customers across the entire lifecycle of photovoltaic installations, from design and commissioning to long-term operation and service.

What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

Antonio Verdi, co-CEO at FIMER – MA Solar Italy, declares: “The global photovoltaic market remains fundamentally strong, although it is currently entering a phase of normalization after several years of exceptional growth. In 2026, the market is experiencing a temporary slowdown in new installations, mainly driven by policy changes in key regions and increasing price pressure across the value chain.

At the same time, demand remains robust, supported by structural drivers such as rising electricity costs, electrification, and the need for energy security.

This evolving scenario is leading to a more competitive and mature market environment, where efficiency, service quality, and the ability to deliver integrated solutions are becoming key differentiating factors.”

What can you tell us about market trends?

Antonio Verdi adds: “The photovoltaic industry is undergoing a significant transformation, shifting from a volume-driven market to a value-driven one.

One of the most relevant trends is the increasing integration of energy generation with energy storage and smart energy management systems. In this context, the inverter is evolving from a conversion device into a central component of energy management, enabling optimization of consumption, grid interaction, and system performance.

Another key trend is the growing importance of modular and flexible system architectures, particularly in utility-scale applications, where string inverters are gaining market share thanks to their scalability and grid responsiveness.

At the same time, the market is seeing strong growth in revamping and repowering activities, driven by the need to upgrade existing plants and extend their lifecycle.

Overall, the industry is moving toward smarter, more integrated, and service-oriented solutions.”

What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

For residential applications, FIMER continues to offer the Power platform, which includes PowerUNO (single-phase hybrid inverter with power ratings up to 6 kW) and PowerTRIO (three-phase hybrid inverter with power ranges up to 10.0 kW), combined with the modular PowerX, the high voltage modular battery, from 5 to 15 kWh. An integrated solution designed to support energy autonomy, flow control, and consumption optimization.

For Commercial & Industrial applications, the company presents the high-power three-phase inverter PVM-75/125-TL in combination with PVX, the modular storage system in AC-coupled configuration. Available in 75, 100, 110 and 125 kW versions and with up to 12 parallelable MPPTs, this powerful solution is designed to ensure design flexibility, operational continuity, and high efficiency.

What estimations do you have for the second half of 2026?

Matteo Leo, Global Sales Manager at FIMER – MA Solar Italy, concludes: “For the second half of 2026, the market is expected to remain challenging but progressively stabilize.

After an early-2026 slowdown, the sector is expected to gradually rebalance, driven by continued investment in renewables, storage, and new markets.

In this context, growth will be increasingly driven by segments such as commercial & industrial applications, hybrid systems, and energy storage integration, rather than by pure capacity expansion.

For manufacturers, this means a stronger focus on differentiation through technology, reliability, and service capabilities. Companies able to offer integrated and flexible solutions will be best positioned to capture opportunities in a more selective and competitive market environment.”
