MODULA LONG GOODS: VERTICAL AUTOMATION FOR LONG MATERIAL MANAGEMENT BECOMES REALITY

A new storage system for long materials up to 7 metres: efficient, safe and structured storage, handling and retrieval on vertically arranged trays. At the LogiMAT exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, Modula offered an overview through informative and multimedia materials that illustrate its concept, specifications and applications. Some weeks ago, Long Goods was exhibited at the MECSPE event in Bologna, Italy

Managing long materials has always been a challenge in industrial warehouses. Modula Long Goods solves this challenge with a vertical automated system that stores, handles and retrieves long items efficiently and safely. In fact, “Long Goods” is the new vertical automated storage system developed by the Italian leading company to manage long and bulky materials with a structured, automated and high-performance approach.

In March, from 24 to 26, Modula Long Goods was featured at the LogiMAT global event in Stuttgart (hall 1, booth 1C67) through dedicated informational and multimedia materials,. At the German trade fair, the system was described through its concept, technical features and application potential, without a physical display. Earlier in the same month, from March 4 to 6, Modula Long Goods was presented live at the MECSPE exhibition in Bologna, Italy (hall 29, booth C20), where the system was physically showcased at the international event.

In detail, Modula Long Goods stores materials up to 7 metres long in vertically arranged trays, with automated storage and retrieval based on the goods-to-person principle. Materials reach the operator directly, with reduced manual handling, faster picking operations and higher accuracy. Vertical space optimization and a smaller floor footprint increase storage density up to 90%, improving material accessibility and support better warehouse organization. The system replaces traditional solutions such as floor storage and cantilever racks with a compact, controlled vertical structure designed for industrial productivity.

Modula Long Goods is available in two versions designed for different application needs.

The standard version features a tray depth of 637 mm and a usable storage width of 7,060 mm. This configuration suits applications where long materials require efficient storage with optimized depth and high vertical density.

The Long Goods D version offers an increased tray depth of 840 mm, while maintaining the same usable width and height configurations. This version suits applications that need greater depth capacity and higher flexibility in handling larger or more complex long materials. In both versions, tray height starts from 237 mm and can reach up to 600 mm through height extensions. Trays can be partitioned with internal dividers that create up to four parallel rows of long materials within the same tray. This configuration improves space utilization, material organization and picking efficiency.

The system handles aluminium and PVC bars, profiles, extruded components and similar long products. Each tray supports loads up to 900 kg. And it reaches a total net storage capacity of up to 80,000 kg and heights up to 24 metres. These specifications make Modula Long Goods suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Modula Long Goods can be integrated with manipulators, overhead cranes and forklifts. Operators load and unload materials directly at the bay. Optional lateral extraction supports integration with cutting machines and production lines. Fold-down trays increase operational flexibility in automated production contexts. Full integration with Modula WMS ensures digital, structured and traceable management of long materials. The system connects seamlessly with ERP systems and supports real-time inventory control and optimized picking processes.

Modula Long Goods delivers automation, control and efficiency in the management of long materials. The system transforms a traditionally complex operation into a scalable, industrial-grade solution.
