INTERVIEW WITH CTS OFFSHORE AND MARINE GROUP

CTS Offshore and Marine Group, provides quality and professional Afloat Repairs to all sectors of the marine work environment, globally, with particular focus on offshore energy- oil and gas and renewable energy, as well as the shipping industries.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

CTS Offshore and Marine: CTS operates in the most geographically and technically challenging regions of the global marine environment and most of the work we do is ‘In-Situ’. We pride ourselves in conducting our activities in a professional and ethical manner, continually striving to achieve and maintain the highest standards and work practices. Our aim is to become the preferred choice for the provision of marine support – offering customers a complete Afloat In-Situ Asset Integrity Service.

Headquartered in London (UK), CTS’s presence spans across regional offices and operational centers located in The Netherlands, Singapore, UAE, India, Malaysia, Romania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, and Brazil. We operate globally as we continue to expand our overseas operations as our business reputation grows.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

CTS Offshore and Marine: Over the last couple of years, we have been working hard on developing state-of-the-art Liner Diameter Measurement & Inspection suite for 2 stroke marine diesel engines, which is now available to our clients and partners. Our LDM solution can be carried out within 15 mins per cylinder, without requiring immobilization of the vessel’s engine. We undertake a detailed 3D examination of the liner, measuring over 10,000 points for wear, scuffing, ovality and much more.

In addition to the 3D measurement services, we can also offer images from within the cylinder and of the piston rings. Using the information we gather on these services, we then analyse the data and provide our clients with a comprehensive report, detailing remaining life of the liners, any issues such as scuffing and any recommendations which we can ascertain using our ‘big data’ analysis of similar engine types.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

CTS Offshore and Marine: CTS Offshore & Marine, as the name would suggest, is active in the Offshore & Marine Sectors. We offer a comprehensive range of services to all stakeholders. From Riding Teams to Marine Architects, we are well situated to support all aspects of Offshore & Marine works, whether you are in the energy sector, merchant marines or subsea technologies.

With a robust network of operatives & offices, we are truly a 24/7 company and are experienced in delivering our services in hard-to-reach locations.

We are also pioneering digital inspection techniques. Not only to reduce downtime and increase visibility across our customer’s fleet; but also, to increase worker’s safety by mitigating the need for Confined Space Entry procedures.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

CTS Offshore and Marine: CTS is active in both developed and emerging markets.

We are playing a key supporting role in the European transition to renewable energy, where we are hook up and commissioning specialist, which we expect to only increase as more sustainable energy initiatives are launched. We have recently completed an expansion of our Netherlands operations, with additional staff and office, workshop and warehouse space to ensure we are well positioned to serve the offshore industry in the future.

Additionally, the developing market we are most excited about is our Liner inspection and monitoring services. As discussed above, this offers clear and tangible benefits compared to manual inspection and we are receiving more and more client interest as people are becoming aware of our services and offerings. We have recently doubled our LDM (liner diameter measurement) team in Europe and are looking forward to future growth in this area. Our LDM Teams are based out of Rotterdam, Singapore, and UAE which gives us fast access to the busiest ports in the world, enabling us to build our service into our client’s port calls with minimal cost and downtime.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

CTS Offshore and Marine: Obviously, Sustainability and Efficiency is becoming an ever-larger part of our industry. As we are getting ever closer to many government’s ‘Net Zero’ aims, we are seeing a huge increase in interest in offshore Wind technologies. With many European countries pledging to double or even 10x their offshore wind generation capacity by the 2050’s, we are expecting to see continuing rapid growth in the field.

With the ever-marching drive towards efficiency, we are also seeing owners of existing infrastructure and vessels look at how they can reduce their impact on the planet. This is one of the reasons we are pioneering our 3D LDM (liner diameter measurement) technologies amongst vessel owners.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

CTS Offshore and Marine: Our 3D liner scanning technology is proving to be very disruptive in the market. This technology allows us to obtain data in minutes that would’ve previously taken multiple men several hours at a resolution not previously possible. We are enabling our customers to make informed decisions regarding their lubrication rates and engine overhaul intervals, based on the data collected during a 3D scan. Customers are really seeing the benefits of this service, and we are starting to see more vessels using frequent 3D LDM data into their preventative maintenance regimes.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

CTS Offshore and Marine: 2022 has so far been an exciting year for us. As the year draws to a close, we are completing our campaign on the Holandse Kust Zuid wind farm and beginning the demobilization process.

We are just putting the finishing touches on our new workshop, logistics hub & office based in Rotterdam, ready to support the next wave of offshore projects.
