IMG is proud to be one of the leading suppliers of rubber injection moulding machines in the Rubber Valley, the innovative district in the lower Sebino region with 400 companies, 4500 employees and a turnover of more than 2.5 billion €.
Interview with Fabrizio Piovanelli, Managing Director of the Sales office at IMG.
Easy Engineering: How was 2022 for your business, a short summary?
Fabrizio Piovanelli: The 2022 has been a very positive year for IMG in terms of orders received, this trend persisted for all year with its peak in the first semester.
E.E: What new products/services will be launched this year?
F.P: During the last months of 2022 we completed the project and presented for the first time to the public at the K fair in Germany the very first model of a fully electric injection molding machine for the rubber sector, the REM model.
IMG developed a machine that has no necessity of hydraulic oil as both injection and clamping units are completely electric.
This means the no necessity of disposing the exhausted oil after its usage and a particular attention to the environment.
The model it’s also very silent allowing a better workplace for the operators and we estimated in 20% less the energy costs and wasting of rubber material.
In 2022 IMG has implemented a new paradigm, a sensible attention in all our production phases to green and sustainability aspects well exemplified by the REM model.
E.E: How did the market change in the last year?
F.P: We observed a major attention from customers to aspects like more sustainable machines, less waste of materials and possibility to 4.0 connection between the various machines to obtain an increase in automation of the entire process.
E.E: What were the best-selling products of 2022?
F.P: We are specialized in Horizontal injection molding machines of various dimensions in terms of clamping force and injection capacity, but by acquiring more international clients we noted an interest in Vertical models, both Injection and Compression.
E.E: What sector of business do you think is expected to grow this year?
F.P: Automotive and Pharmaceutical components, however, there are still many geopolitical and energy prices uncertainties that affect our sector.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
F.P: As always, we pay particular attention to innovation and new technologies.
During 2023 we also plan to install an important photovoltaic system to became more autonomous in terms of energy, then we are planning to obtain an EDP (Environmental Product Declaration) certification of our models, and we will acquire the IS0 140001 certification by mid of 2023.
For us the long-term sustainability it’s a development opportunity that creates costs in the short period, but that guarantee a punctual vision of what will happen in the future.
E.E: A short message for collaborators for the beginning of the year.
F.P: The Italian domestic market is always very important for us, but currently we are having an internationalization process and we are creating partnership with sales agencies in European countries outside Italy to increase the number of our foreign customers and be closer to them.
During this year we will also participate at two fairs with IMG machines exposed to visitors: EQUIPLAST in Barcelona from 30th of May till 2nd of June and PLAST in Milan from 5th till 9th of September, everyone is welcome to visit our stands.
