INTERVIEW WITH SAMAC

Since 1975 Samac designs and builds customized assembly and testing plants. The different areas of expertise, the use of advanced technologies and the strong level achieved in engineering have identified Samac as the automation partner of the most important players of various industries: automotive, electric mobility, home automation, hydraulics, oil & gas, medical, consumer goods etc.

Everything at Samac is done in-house: a deep preliminary study of the equipment, mechanical, electrical and software project, until the construction and the final acceptance at the customer site.

The company aims to build an excellent experience for every step of a value creation process, always aspiring to exceed customer expectations through innovative solutions and a 360° ongoing assistance.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

SAMAC: The core business of the company is the design and the construction of tailored assembly and testing machinery. Each equipment is different from the another because every time we provide a 100% customized solution based upon customer technical requirements.

Samac portfolio includes fully automatic lines, lines with operators, single test benches, rotary tables, robotized cells, chaku chaku systems and many more.

You can have a look at our case studies here, sorting them for industry/ technology/ typology of flexibility.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

SAMAC: Each equipment is unique and different from the others; this means that every project/line is a new product for our company. In relation to last year, a big challenge was developing a fully automatic pallet line for a relatively new product launched in the automotive market: a BSG motor. Samac realized a 37-metres-lenght plant integrating in more than 70 stations a lot of high-technological levelled processes.

A complete case study is visible on our website.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

SAMAC: Samac portfolio covers many industries and products. The most important ones for automotive field are turbochargers, water/oil/vacuum/tandem pumps, fans, steering systems etc.. Samac has also gained experience in assembling electrical components developing a strong know how about electric motors and the full characterization of related tests. Our research & development team is always working on new market trends, and electrification is one of them.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

SAMAC: Thanks to a large portfolio of processes common to various industries, Samac can project machinery for many different markets; this means that when automotive market (the most important one for us) is not reactive, we can expand in other business like home appliances, health & medtech, consumer goods. This strategy allows us to be independent from the discontinuity trends of the automotive market.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

SAMAC: In our case, the differentiation strategy is a success: being independent from a single market let us make experience in other industries, grow in other business and gain confidence with new potential customer who usually appreciate flexibility and adaptability.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

SAMAC: In the last two years we have developed a lot of interesting projects; the most innovative for Samac and both the related markets are the motor of an electric bike (consumer goods) and a belt starter generator (BSG) motor in automotive. In this period, we’re also working on the testing equipment for an electric turbocharger, a new release for the car market.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022 2023?

SAMAC: The turnover for 2023 should settle around 28 m.

Some of the goals of this year will be entering the medical market, a full development of our Chinese plant based in Changzhou, finding new technical partnerships for Turkey, France and other European countries and make Samac known as one of the most reliable suppliers for automation projects.

At the same time, 2023 will see the birth of a project between Samac and the educational institutions of the territory to stimulate the study of STEM subjects among young people and, last but not least, a stronger commitment to sustainability/ ESG topics.
